| Ok, so I've searched the board and didn't find an answer for this. I'm looking for a set of aftermarket wheels and I'm not having much luck. The shop I'm dealing with is very helpful and "seems" to be knowledgeable but not giving me much for choices. Here's what they suggest. 16x7 http://www.ultrawheel.com/images/rims/ultra_passenger_car_cuv_wheels_rims_402_alpine_silver_5_lug_std_500.jpgIt's a nice looking wheel but not really what I had in mind. He's telling me (because we live in Michigan and they salt the roads) that the chrome wheels with rust and the alum. wheels will look like crap in a couple of years. I'm not in to Bling and I'm kinda old school so I like the mag/spoke type wheels. Also I'm working on a budget of about $600. He tells me I can't go to an 8" rim because it's a wagon and has a shorter rear wheel opening and it would rub. HELP!!!! | |

| Go to a new shop, that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. People have stuffed 9.5" wide wheels under wagons without issue. He might not SELL something with the right backspacing/offset combo to do it, but it can be done.
And... the SS wheels you have on there now are 8.5" wide. lol |

| backspacing is key here I have impala rims at 17x8.5 as Roo mentioned and miles of space. I also have 15x 8 Cragers with 4 inch backspace and they rub on the pass side if I make a sharp right turn. A look underneath shows me an acre of space between the back of the tire and the wheel well. Dunno what the backspace on the Imp rims are, but I would say, 15x8 with 4.5 to 5 or more backspace would be fine. Now to find a rim manufactured in 5x5 with the right backspace....... Crager has alot of option and budget priced........like old skool? then what about these: http://www.cragarwheel.com/wheels/?id=19&first=30&fid=allthey should be fine | |

| I would go with either a 17" or 18" rim which would give you a better selection of tires now and in the future. I went with 17s just because I couldn't find any 15's that looked good to me. On my 92 I ran Mich X-1's and really like them but are no longer available. Right now I am running some 235/60R17 Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring on 17x8 American Racing Mainline rims. I am quite happy with the setup even tho I wonder if the Michelin Primacy MXV4 would of been better. Here is how they look on the car. | |

| I have 18x 9.5's all around on my wagon. No mods whatsoever to fit them, either. Find a different shop. | |

| So I called another tire dealer (Discount Tire) and the guy was great. He said there shouldn't be an issue with the wheels. I got the 17x8s with Yokahama YK580 tires 235/60/17. I did it all over the phone....from work. I should have 'em next week, I'm pretty excited. | |

| So do you think that the 235/60/17 tires will look good with the 17x8 rims? I'm hoping they're not to tall. | |

| At about 28 inches tall they are the same height as the originals are.Should fill out the fenderwells nicely. Jim |

| Should work out great! I myself run 255/50/17 front on a 17x8 and a 275/50/17(!) rear on a 17x9.5. American Salt Flat Specials in the 'as cast' finish. Just gotta lower the new wagon. |
