| I've got a set, or so I've been told, they came off a wrecked '94 NYSP car in'97, so not awful, but not SC clean. Any idea on the spring height, and diameter of the a coil? If you do I'll verify what they are or are not.

| If Mike's don't work out. I have a set I bought new from Rockauto this past fall, I don't think I'll ever install them. Shipping to SC may be a killer, thou. | |

| Well, I used to have pics when I did this before...but I think those got lost. They are a progressive rate spring, and are notably thicker than our stock springs. You got a pic? Or thickness measurement?
Thanks!
I didnt know you can still buy these new Cadet...you have a pn?

According to searches on ISSF, and the googles the p/n I found back then is 5030. They're a Moog spring. Rockauto still carries them for $65.89/pair.

| You must be making your car into one of them old style drag racers, with it's nose in the air. | |

| Oh I remember what it was. You can put them in the front to drop the nose about an inch, but if you put the rears in too, it actually lifts the nose because of the overhang weight of the wagon.

Ahhh. Gotcha. I wonder if I'll run into that problem with the CC623 cargo coils....

| lol...you can actually cut a coil off the bottom and it will ride fine ( variable rate ) and drop about 1.5 in. I did it with my WB4...sat nice! | |

| Moog 5030 is the moog equivalent of the 9C1 spring. They have a linear rate of 419 lb/in. Installed "as is" they WILL raise the nose of a wagon and as you will see below, the rate is not a huge departure from a stock wagon, but as it has been mentioned cutting it will increase the rate. They need to be cut at least 1/2 coil to bring the car to stock ride height. More if you want to lower it a bit. I'll take a picture of my brother's Caprice Wagon with 5030 springs cut 1/2 coil in the front this weekend. The moog 5030s cut 1/2 coil feel very nice for a cruiser / daily driver, but I think are a bit too soft for spirited driving. It's absolutely not what anyone (even on this forum) would call firm. If you are interested in really firming up your ride, consider the moog 7268 or 80098. They are a 750 lb/in spring that is stock impala SS height (which will be slightly higher in a wagon). You will need a front shock with lots of rebound control, such as the Bilstein 1104, AK1053 or Monroe SS. If that's too low, 80090 is closer to the stock ride height. I'm going to cross post this from Bill Harper's post over at ISSF since I'm sure it will help since there seems to be a lot of misinformation going around on this forum. Spring rates for various B-platform cars: SS & 9C1 sedan, wagon front - suspension RPO 7B3, FE3, FE4 & others: front - 77 N/mm (other sources indicate a 440# "rate" for this spring family) The range of 77 n/M springs (same basic wire size, OD, etc) is formed/cut to lengths resulting in various ride heights, SS-specific spring providing the lowest ride/trim height measurements rear - 27 N/mm (SS-spec spring is 154# "rate") other sedans (those not using FE3, FE4, or 7B3 suspension packages--and possibly FE2 & F41) front - 53 N/mm rear - 18 N/mm wagonrear - 37 N/mm | |

| I,d just like to put my 2c in here,. Again we have different folks with different styles of driving discussing spring rates, A firm spring in the front of these wagons is a bear to drive unless as was mentioned the springs have some very tough shocks to go with them, If lived in michigan,.and the car was my daily driver there,s no way i,d have such a hard ride with michigan roads,.or new england roads either,. I seriously doubt there is more than 4 guys on this forum that can or do drive their wagons hard enough to warrant such a spring rate,. to calculate your new spring rate of a cut coil,.you need to multiply the rate by the number of coils then divide by the new number of coils,. INMHO for a street driven wagon, folks are happiest with a reasonable spring rate, firm shocks, and good roll control,. Nick | |

| Good point. I'm just trying to show that some wagons came with fairly stiff shocks from the factory so going for 9C1 springs won't necessarily show a huge increase in spring rate. | |
