'95 Impala SS clone for sale Empty
PostSubject: '95 Impala SS clone for sale   '95 Impala SS clone for sale Icon_minitimeThu May 24, 2012 12:00 pm

I tacked a note onto another blog advising that my wagon also was for sale.
Got one response from a member in Canada, who subsequently informed me that he bought
another car -- from Arizona.
This one is a genuine FL. wagon, and here is the poop on it.

If you would like to do a VIN check on my wagon, the number is: 1G1BL82P6SR184313
You can check it out at: http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=1G1BL82P6SR184313&x=38&y=4
This car is a “phantom” model. It started life as a 1995 Caprice Classic but has been converted into an Impala SS
wagon! Build records show that it was one of only 9 originally made with these options.
This model is the last year that Chevy made a full-sized framed wagon.

I am going to attach some of the pics that I took of my Impala SS wagon clone.
It is loaded and in excellent shape. I have been offered up to $6000.+ for it in trade,
but you will have to make your own decision based on this transaction.

The intake system has been modified for better breathing, as you can see, but I have all
the stock air silencers, if you would want them.
It has 4-brand new Bilstein HDshocks on it, as well as a BMR HD front stabilizer. It drives
and rides like it is on rails!
I also had the Class III Draw-Tite trailer hitch installed. These are no longer available
for this model in this weight category.
My wife objected when I bought it that the passenger seat was throwing her out the door,
so I had both front seats totally rebuilt with new springs and foam cushioning. It is very
comfortable.

We just made a trip down to Miami to visit my granddaughter at Spring Break – 700 miles.
I cruise @ 75-80 most of the way and we got 22.4 mpg with this LT-1 engine!
It also has factory SS true dual exhausts.

Being a wagon, and a former ‘95 9C1 (GM police packaged cars)owner, I know that these engines
were designed for a 300,000 service life, but they like the extra cooling that was part of the police packages
--- so I have added a 9C1 engine oil cooler and the oil filter adapter. The trans cooler was a special deal that the
factory did on special wagons --- on this car they used the cooler tanks in both sides of the radiator for the tranny!
This car will run forever. Oh yes, I also just had all the injectors ultrasonically cleaned & calibrated,
so it runs very smooth.
The mileage on the odometer says 175,000, but is not a true reflection of this car or its condition.
What will you offer me for this new classic?
Hope that we can make this happen!

Bob Marks

You guys are such nice critics!
I was offered the $6K just several weeks ago-- but the rest of the deal was too $$$.
There is an old saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Did any of you sharpies notice that all the side trim is gone? --- and the door panels have
been changed?
Or the RM center console --- and the limo-tinted windows?
Criticism is nice when it is done in a positive manner ----
not the way some jokers do on this site!

BTW, have any of you tried to buy GOOD Impala SS rims lately? --- or the
O/S tires that are on them now???

This isn't a clone. It's a Caprice wagon with SS grille and wheels.

What else do you want -- stick-on emblems????

Maybe you don't like my choice of terms, but that does not change this cars condition, right now!
I am maybe smelling some --- sour grapes?

Thanks for all the positive comments! Laughing
BTW: all the conversion mods were done by the two prior owners --- who were members of ISSCA!
The changes I have made are noted in my initial blog.

Door panels look like regular Caprice panels to me. confused It's a nice car, but don't get so defensive over questioning. It's only the Internet.

What Jay was saying is that if you were really to market it as a clone, you're missing some pieces. That's all.

Take a chill pill.

Chrome lower door trim. Chrome wheel well trim. Chrome door handles. Chrome locks. Woodgrain door panel inserts. Cloth seats. Hood emblem. Caprice headlights. For a start.

No sour grapes, just a realistic point of view. It's not a clone. It's a Caprice wagon with an SS grille and SS wheels. I have one, too Smile (and a real SS)

Take the 6k and run to the bank before they guy changes his mind Wink

The only reason that I am even considering selling the wagon is 'cause we got a new puppy.
Things were fine---- until she grew!
Now, the car crate that I need to get to acommodate her won't fit in the wagon -- it's too tall!
So, I have been looking at Envoys and Yukons ----- but what they are asking for them,
you would think that they came gold-plated!

I have several irons in the fire, but the reasonable ones do not want a trade-in, they want
all cash! I can't do that unless I sell the wagon first.

One deal that I had cooking I lost in the last 22 seconds by $65.! (Sob)
But I am still looking......

Keep the wagon and get a pet fence that fits behind the second seat and alllows the dog to
move around without bothering the passengers. My 2 american eskimos ride in the back seat
since I bought a seat cover thats waterproof from Duluth Traders.Just how big has it gotten?

That is not a solution for us Jim.
We take multiple dogs to a show. Usually 3.
When we got this new puppy we had 30" crates in the car --- no problem.
Now, she is 9-1/2 months old and she measures 25-1/2" tall at the withers!
The problem is besides her height, we usually have to take extra crates to a
show to set-up at the show site(grooming area, ringside, etc.)
She is ducking now to get into the 30" crates, we need to go to the next size --36",
which will not fit in the wagon!
That's the whole reason we are looking for a trade, swap, sale, etc.!

One other add-on that I forgot to mention---
I have put a Summit Racing Aluminum extended sump
trans pan on it. This added 2 quarts to the trans fluid
capacity.
Then we flushed and filled with the latest Dextron 6
tranny fluid.
No problems in the event of towing --- which I have not done yet!
We did this in anticipation of getting an RV trailer----!

That was afigure thrown at me by a dealer who wanted me to trade for an '10 Town & Country van--
but his van price was more than my budget would allow!
I have had other offers --- on other deals, all the way from $3000. up to $5500.
But none of those deals went thru!

Well I done did it! ---- Hopefully
I have made arrangements, i.e., a deal --
to buy a minivan.
A 2003 Chevy Astro to be specific!
But there is a catch --- I can't see or get it until June 9th, 'cause the guy
is using it to move!

So, once this deal goes down,
my wagon will be available --- very reasonably!

Astros are cool if you're not a tall guy. If you're six foot or taller you'll be looking at the headliner while trying to drive. Just my experience, hence why I got a GMC Savana. Good luck on getting the new vehicle they are plenty roomy. Maybe this way you could keep the wagon?

We are not tall, and this will primarily be my wifes dog show/travel van.
It will actually be the 4th Astro that we have owned!
1st -1988, then a 1995, followed by a 2000, and now a 2003.
The only reason I traded the 2000, which was AWD, 'cause my wife could no longer help me
take the third row seat in and out! We traded it for a Town & Country with Stow & Go.
I also would have preferred going with a GMC (more std. stuff) but could not find one that met
our needs, at a price I could afford.
Unfortunately the wagon will have to go. I cannot afford insurance on four vehicles!

A dealer offer is not usually the best way to value your car as he can manpulate the price of the car he is selling to comensate for the high offer on a trade. Good luck. The best appraisal of a car is the day someone hands you cash and both party's shake hands, happy with the deal.

^^^^ thanks for saying what I was thinking COL. They can 'offer' you anything on paper and make it sound good.

I don't doubt the car has that kind of money invested in it (alot more knowing where it came from), but the market won't bring that much cash for a wagon unless its really low miles, very custom, or finding the right buyer. This fourm most likely will not be the place for that.

I'm building a 94 DGGM wagon myself and the exterior and mechanicals will be pretty close to SS specs when done. Paint, ram air hood, door handles, lower strips, moldings, etc. 3.08 posi rear, 4 wheel discs, proper tune, suspension drop. Only I will retaining the tan interior and use a s10 floor shift/console, s10 overhead console, and bonnies front and rear.

I only hope it'll look half as good as yours when done.

Regarding the dealer offer: My dad always traded in after a few years, and in shopping for a new car, he said that the dealer's offer on his trade-in wasn't a matter of concern. He looked for the deal on a specific car that required the least amount of money out of his pocket. This was because some dealers were smart enough to butter up or 'flatter' their customers with a real high trade in value, but sold the new car at a high (or list) price. His way was the simplest way to determine the best deal.

Dealerships here have been offering 6 Grand for anything that runs. "Drive it in and we'll give you $6K in trade in".

Marketing, plain and simple.

What does NADAGUIDES.com say your car is worth? THAT is what your car is worth to a business. To a dealer/reseller, mods decrease value as it limits the potential customer pool to those that want those specific modifications.

Name calling?
That's a new twist in vocabulary!
What about him asking me to lick his butt hole!
I'd call that a little more than name calling!!!!!

O.K. now with all the smart talk over, I hope,
I am making an honest offer that I hope will get some honest
responses.
Instead of "clone" I'll call my wagon a "wanna-be". O.K.?
But I have just acquired a van and cannot afford to support 4 vehicles,
so, I am now asking $4495.00 for MY wagon, as it sits, with all the
warts and not-ons that have been pointed out.
Please, is anyone on this forum interested?
Send me a private message or an e-mail to: rkmdogs@tampabay.rr.com
Thanks!
Bob

GLWS - I think Impala SS Tribute would be the most politically correct way to advertise it.
You can always try ebay, or Craig's list in other metro areas (like the NE or West Coast). Wagons definitely command a higher $$ in those areas.
