You know, this situation begs of a Photoshop job of a big, white Longroof being transported on top of the airliner.

Sad story that we may never see this sight again.

The 747 carrier planes are slotted to go to a boneyard and be broken up for spares for the SOFIA flying telescope project.

The shuttle program was supposed to be discontinued almost 15 years ago, but it was extended because the International Space Station's construction faced delays and design changes, and no other suitable vehicle that was able to carry the equipment up had been developed in time. Each shuttle was originally only intended to have a lifespan of ten years.


But nah, totally Obama redistributing the wealth.
