| I just finished installing four new speakers in my Olds. A couple of my speakers sounded real bad to me with very mediocre range. So I went to the forum and researched online. I wanted to keep the original radio with cassettes since I had a nice blues collection. I started with the back ones first. They were my Christmas present even though my wife thought we had already spentenough on our car. Cargo Springs, Bilsteins and Airlift 1000. The access was easy. lift up the plastic cover first near window then pull out at the bottom. I was surprised how flimsy thetwo piece mount was. I covered the mount with Dynamat to help eliminate any vibrations. One of the rear speakes was an original GM delco from singapor and the other was a latter China replcement. It had a tear in it. That is what started my project. It drove me nuts. I replaced it with the top rated 6"x9" co axal speaker, JBL GTO938. Before you disconect your wires take note which is + and -. Make with tape if you are old. I placed new conectors and heat shring tubes I built some fome baffels. \ This is my compressor for the Airlifts. I have a wire less control on the visor. I got some more peel and seal insulation and covered the bare metal behind the spare tire to keep the road noise down. Works great. I am off to the beach. Sunny cool day. Will post the front door intallation later. COLONEL | |

| Lots of valuble information here, "Make with tape if OLD" is a keeper for sure.Oh and the way you drilled into the fenderwell with the compressor mounting bolts is another "If your Old" remark Just kidding Dick and we can never spend enough money on our wagons! Were the speakers worth the cost to your OLD ears? |

| Jim, I was rushed with the post and did not proof read. Old is me. Make was meant to be mark. Yes we drilled into wheel well for the compressor, but sealed from other side. The speakers were worth it. My VA hearing aids are the reason I heard the bad crakling sound from the old ones. Dick Oh I installed some original front door lights. I discovered the wiring when doing the fron speakers. My Olds is my hobby right? Not just a car.

| Now I want to go back into mine and foam/baffle it up in the back. Nice work Dick! All I did on mine was unbolt and replace the stock rear speakers with Sonys....and actually my 10-year-old son did the rear install for me. I bet that extra effort you did helps the sound quality a lot. -Mike | |

| Left door installation of 4"x6" Polk Audio MM461 Plate speakers. They have a small tweeter and a 4" mounted on a plate. This picture is the cutout with a 1 foot square of Dynamat. Old speaker new one It fit right in the original mounting. One tab was a litle tight so I trimed it down with a Fordum. I used some window seal from my local Ace Hardware to seal the door. It is not as thick as the dyna mat but help damppen the road noise. This car is much quieter than my 58 Cadillac Hardtop with bad window rubber, But I became obsessed with making it quieter. The completed job. At the beach yesterday Dick | |

| Nice work! Those are SHARP speakers. I'm sure round sounds much better than oval. I'm surprised your car does not have the door panel lights under the arm rests. Weird! Did you notice if it has the plugs for them? Mine had them on the front but not the rear doors. I added ones to the rears....it had bare plugs for them in the rear panels. https://gmlongroof.4umer.com/t7131-occ-rear-door-panel-lightsEasy and cheap mod, just grab some off a Roady sedan at any salvage yard. | |

Easy and cheap mod, just grab some off a Roady sedan at any salvage yard. Mike, Mine did not have the door lights in the front or back. I had read you post about them however and when I discovered the wired plugs in the front doors I found an OEM set on ebay Very Dark Saphire color. It was so easy. They were in the original GM package and even came with the 1/2" x 3/4" lens for the pocket. I later found the rears in tan. Looking for the right blue to paint. May use black and get them installed.... Paint blue latter. As for salvage yards. Yards are very scarce. None on the coast. Portland maybe but that is three hours away. In 10 months I have only seen three RMW and one Caprice on the road. No OCCs. They are all rare out here. I think Texas got most of them, and Florida. My car lived in TX for 19 years. Recently a nice Roadie sold for $9500 on ebay in Portland Oregon. I printed that for the record (insurance). It had more miles than mine. I have put 16,000 miles on mine since last March. Dick | |

| I would have gone with 6.5 coax speakers for the front doors but was not sure the original GM Delco had enough power to drive all four. I did not want to screw around adding an amp. I know so little about amps, ohms and watts. Eventually I may upgrade the original, add a 10" subwoofer in the left rear package door. Oh Yeah!! Today I am going to install the rear door lights. Then take the dogs to the beach.............. COL | |

| Good deal on the door lights. It's the little things that make you happy. I'm pretty sure I can find some blue ones for mine if I look, but just did them the tan ones I found in black for now...and now I'm used to them in black and it looks correct to me. Ha. Too bad to hear about your lack of salvage yards. I live for weekend yard runs...evening though it gives my wife the firepower to call my cars junk...since they are built from junkyards..hahaha. Take care. Great beach pics! -Mike
