On a car as clean as yours,. and with all the bolts easy to undo,.you probably could have pulled the motor in the time it took you to clean it,. 2 hrs tops to yank it out,.

I thought I would post some stuff I will be doing to my wagon again. I got a new trans for it a couple months ago, but I have been laid up with ankle operation and now am up and limping around. I smoothed it up a little bit I did not go crazy just smoothed it up a little and painted it. I will be putting it in end of next week and will post more pics.

Well Friday here in philly, like much of east coast we had a big freeze roll in. So to beat the freezing rain I took my wagon to my friends shop Thursday night. I went over Friday morning to install the trans and while it was up in the air changed the diff fluid. I hit only 2 real problems one was the cooler lines, the adapters on the new trans were a different size than the nuts on my lines. that was no biggie just swapped the old ones to the new trans. The other is still a issue the new trans came with a flywheel cover that was plastic and came with self tapper screws. I was going to use my old metal cover but the bolts don't line up with the new trans, so I tried using the new plastic cover it bolted up but when i started the car there was a loud knocking noise. Looks like the converter bolts were hitting the cover. i took cover off and no noise. So I opening up the hole for the starter some. It looked like the starter was pushing the cover in towards the flywheel. Put car back down and started it same noise but a little quitter. Back up in air and noticed the arp converter bolts were a little taller than the bolts the trans came with so tried them for the heck of it but no help. So I currently have no cover on it.I went to the shop today and picked up the car drives fine. I only drove it back to my garage took long way 10 miles. Shifts good no problems. I dont want to drive it right now with all the salt on the roads. Has any one had any issues with the fly wheel cover hitting? I was thinking of going to junk yard and see if i can find a factory cover with the bolt pattern that the new trans has. here are a couple pics. I will post some later of the 2 covers. Thx for any help. I am going to callthe trans shop tomorrow.

Once I break in the trans and do a fluid change I will be putting the deeper trans pan for my old trans in . Its a factory deep pan I got from a truck with a drain plug in. Like I said I will post pics of fly wheel cover a little later

thanks buickman1. Here are some pics of flywheel cover if anyone can point me in the right direction to find the one I need. I'm thinking maybe I should look under some chevy trucks.
here is the original one from my 94
here is the one that came with trans. notice how the mounting points are basically at the corners. It's plastic aftermarket one
If I can't find the correct one I am going to weld tabs on the original one and drill some holes to mount it.

The plastic ones have worked fine for me. The original one may have the correct holes in it, but I can not see them in your picture.

the 1st pic the mounting holes are more or less in the middle and the plastic one the holes are on the corners. I called trans shop they said gm does not make them anymore, so they use the plastic ones and to trim it back, so it does not hit. I found one at jy that might be able to modify easier. I will post pic later of the one I picked up. I never knew how many different covers there are for the same transmission. Plus, the junk yard had cars laying in the dirt had to jack them up to even see if they had correct one. What a unexpected pain in the butt. Thursday is looking to have great weather so going to pull it out and put some miles on the trans.

I have been laid up with achilles tendon surgery . So I started gathering parts for bigger brake project. I bought c5 set of calipers and rotors used. I also bought new spindles that take c7 hub bearings. I started powder coating the parts I have so far. Here are some pics.

They are cpp classic performance products. They are for 70 81 camaros. The bad part can be they use smaller bolt pattern and have no abs . I already got rid of my abs and I am going to get new rims anyway . So not a problem for me. I'm going to get Axles with smaller bolt pattern to match

I got front done. I had to order new braided hoses for corvette the caprice lines I had where to short. I also did the stealth brake mod too proportion valve. Still need to bleed them. I had to use corvette banjo bolt. They are same diameter but different thread count.

I have been thinking about one. I am considering a simple cable with a T handle hooked to the bottom lever of the latch.

I went to junk yard to find ideas. U can find little glow in dark handles from alot of car trunks. I just didn't like how big they would have been.
