| Hello all, i stumbled across this site this morning looking at another link,,looks like a nice site. I currently own a 1983 olds cutlass wagon, it has a 5.7 e.f.i/700r4 swap from a 92 brm,(tbi),2.73 gears in the chunk. Long list of mods already done to it,,it does have 1 issue that has kept it parked for about 8 mo. The lockup quit working,, i have 2 other rides so its on the back burner,,maybe some one on here could help a brother out,,its a real cool ride....ill try to post some pics.. | |

| Hey Woody
Glad you found us, we have a growing boxy community. We have some knowledgeable boxy guys. Off the top of my head, "Joe T" and "cammerjeff" come to mind. I'm sure one of those guys or someone else can help you with your problem.

You're in luck, Joel "Sherlock9C1" is our transmission guy. He is on regularly, but not everyday as he has 3 young kids. PM him, if need be. Tom C.

A little more info would help. Is the TBI ECM still controlling lock-up? Did it ever work since the swap was performed? Factory set ups feed through the brake pedal switch so that's one place to check. Perhaps the TCC solenoid in the transmission just croaked.

| Silverfox103 - busy is right!
Get yourself a set of '92 Buick Roadmaster factory service manuals and you should be able to diagnose the TCC issue pretty quick. I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car now unless you do a lot of highway driving in the heat. Around town, the converter doesn't lock much anyway.
I agree with what Greg said - it's an electronic control that's probably driven by the PCM but with input from the brake pedal switch.
