| I have a major oil leak on the passenger side of my car - right above the starter somewhere. I have it on jackstands right now, but need to know what potential problem i am looking at before I am removing parts... | |

| Probably the intake manifold leaking from the back. | |

X3. Just finished doing this on my brother's car. Entire back of the motor, bell housing and oil pan was moist.

| When you R&R the manifold, make sure you have a friend help you to place it in one shot, it gets really heavy at arms length. Do not move it once you have placed it. You should also use extra silicone on the front and back. Too much in this case is not a bad thing. You might even put a bead on the manifold as well as the block. | |

Sounds about right as far as what I am looking at... entire underside of the car is covered in oil - at least it wont rust anytime soon now... As far as fixing it goes - guess it will have to wait another week - that is a bigger job then what I can tackle right now.

| Before you start taking the manifold off, check the rear bolts as they are notorious for loosening up on the LT1's. There's a good chance that is your problem.
