I went to the junkyard today and they had a 91 RMW (314k mi!). I noticed that it had chrome trimmed pedals. I did not know any 91-96 B/D cars came with these and was pleasantly surprised. I always thought these cars would be cooler with chrome pedals like the boxy generation had. When did they stop putting them in?

I have only seen these on the 91 - 93 Sedans. I nabbed a set but have not put them on yet. One thing I noticed on every chrome framed brake version is that the rubber is severely worn down on them as opposed to the non-chromed version. Not sure if they used a lesser quality rubber on these or not.

My '89 OCC had chrome gas and brake pedals. My '92 OCC has a chrome gas but plain black rubber brake pedal. My '96 Roady wagon had plain black pedals for both gas and brake.

I guess GM saved a few bucks over the years by slowly phasing out these.

I cleaned up a gas and brake pedal set with the chrome and installed them. Looks great but now I have a better idea why they may have stopped doing this. The lower dashes on the later models are so big that when you open the drivers door, you barely see the pedals. The pedals just dont stand out like they did with older (say 80's) interiors that had higher mid dashs; when you opened the drivers door, the pedals were prominent and when chrome embellished really looked classy. I have not seen a chrome framed emergency brake rubber pad on any of the Roady's or Caprice's I have come across in the yards.
