| I'm told by a mechanic that working on even the simplest/least expensive things on the 1995 LT1 is extremely expensive. Getting to the distributor, for example. Car has been bogging down when it never had before (in my one year of owning it).
Is this accurate information? This mechanic's estimate seems high. Any help/insight appreciated.

| Ignition work is expensive, but not everything else in my opinion. | |

| Do you work on your cars yourself, or do you have mechanics work on them? | |

| It is not the difficulty in replacing the opti, it is the time involved. You have to remove a number of things to get to it. | |

| It's called the "optispark" distributor, but to anybody else you can just call it a "distributor."
How many LT1 engines has this mechanic worked on? There are many automotive repair jobs I've done that are tougher than a distributor replacement on an LT1.

| Go to utube and enter "optispark"and decide for yourself, its not that hard with the right tools and a little patience. |

| Talk to someone who knows LT1 engines well,.
"bogging" is not s very good description of the ailment,.
and most mechanics that don't know LT1's intimately,. will always reach for the new optispark off the shelf,.
then they give up when it still "bogs"

| Check for codes in the computer. Then let us know what you found. It will help remote troubleshooting. | |

I looked back at your posts Braniac,. you post very little, You ask questions that seem to come from someone that is too lazy to search for anything, You have never introduced yourself,.and have not offered up any info or pictures of your car general info like color etc,.,. no general info about yourself, where you are located etc,. In fact it seems to me that you might possibly be someone with more than one forum ID,. Optispark
