| As usual I was cruising CL and was seriously thinking about calling on this one: http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/3805012332.html Not bad for $1200...but as underpowered as my L03 is, I couldn't bring myself to call. Then today I saw this guy for $900: http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/3870245263.html Called TX MIke to discuss which years had the good motors as I'm not up on tricycle, er I mean front wheel drive GMs. Then fate intervened. About two weeks ago I saw a DMR OCC in the Florida keys on CL. 350 with a tow pack, but 188K and wanted $2K.......Then a couple days ago it's back for 1500 obo. Miles are pretty high for that kinda coin, plus I'm gauging against The 91 OCC I got from Chris as a price point (ie more car less $$). More car meaning mods and R&R. I call a friend in the keys who loves my wagon and try to get him to go buy it. He's interested but doesn't have that money liquid. So imagine my surprise when I see it on there today for 1000 OBO, make offer. Short version is I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. 350 92 with a tow pack. He says it has 3.73s but I figure it's the stock 3.23s. Has newer tires and a class III hitch. Talk some more and find out that he got the car (2nd owner) at 120 and tore the motor down (what he told me) May have been bored 30 over will find out more tomorrow. He was excited to sell it to me as his wife has had junkyards there 3 times this week to haul it away, and he wants to see it go to an enthusiast. Ta-daa! Here I am to save the day. Now what am I going to tell my wife when she gets back from Texas......LMAO 94 AGW 'Dusty' with 222K for sale soon for $1000 FL car it's whole life. Needs love and woodgrain but runs like a champ! Serious on selling Dusty, or I'm going to part her, but she's too good for that. | |

| Now this is the Sprocket that we remember; never paid over $1000 for a wagon, usually closer to $600. Oh, the thrill of the chase.
What do you tell your wife? Well, for a starter, she just got a new to her car in TX, correct? She's happy about that, I'm sure. On the other hand, the dastardly deed will be done by the time she gets home, how long can the punishment possibly last?

| Now I need a Fleetwood
It's been at least a year since I've seen a wagon in my price range, they seem to going up! This one is costing me about 20 cents a pound, not quite the deal I got back in 2008 for 10 cents a pound, lol.

Tom, my first wagon the 1a2 was 1750 and sold it for 1400. Plus plane tickets and gas home, over 2000. Dusty cost me 1000 to purchase plus 900 in repairs to make her right. After that though every thing was 1000 or under, although Jade (1000 to get in) will be the high dollar car by the time I'm done (over 900 in parts sitting in the garage already and still needs lots more). Who knows maybe the 350 will go in the Blue car? We will have to see how it all plays out.

| I might be interested in Dusty... mine blew a coolant hose this afternoon on the way home from work, and I could use a backup vehicle in case something else goes wrong... | |

| patience.....I am awaiting Commander Flash Gumby's arrival at Wagon Base South. Upon the commander's arrival, a recovery sortie will be launched to retrieve the abandoned starship. It is currently docked at a marina (how fitting) in the Mid FL Keys approximately 3 light hours from the star base. There will also be a small detour to my friends house in the keys as he left the keys to his house and car in the cargo hold of the recovery ship the other night (I did mention the tropical drinks right?) T minus 30 minutes and counting, all systems go...... | |

| Car is for sale, Common Sense has prevailed. The car is very drivable and with two minor repairs (about $60 worth of parts total), I'd drive it to Cali.
Looking to get my purchase price of 850 back out (already in for close to a grand with the title transfer and costs to bring it home). If interested let me know, I'll be putting the sale ad together this week or next. Currently registered and insured, driving it daily (over 400 miles so far)

| No the wife took it in stride just fine. Was a combo of things
It rained and it leaks like a sieve in the rear. Top of both D pillars real rot. Area by lower left tail gate hinge bad Needed head liner and two front seat skins.
In short, great mechanically, cosmetically wanting. Realized once I got it home how much work really needed (once I took the rose colored glasses off), and some one else needed a 350.
I'm walking away at a $ loss due to the money spent to relocate and transfer of ownership etc. But he's gonna give me some of the parts so it'll zero out for the most part.
Car will be parted this week/weekend and sent away, so start thinking of what bits you may want.
He should chime in when the fun starts.

| I understand about the "rose colored glasses" but in my case they were Medium Garnet Red colored glasses. That '95 Caprice wagon I had looked great at first glance, just a little rust, right? Not too bad. But under the surface the body was a rusty, rusty, mess. Wonder why it 7 PO's hmmm? It taught me (and Dave P.) to look at these wagons like it was color or option combo we hated, so we would be more discerning. I took a real bath on that stupid car, only had it a few months. But I learned something. Part of which was to never look at a prospective new used car in the dark. | |
