| So today I started looking for GM part number 10172513 - the little black clip that holds the tail gate door lock rod so I could put the tailgate back together - can't find the darn thing anywhere. (Found on seller online that want $25+ for each clip).
Which brings me to the following question: Has anyone thought about the feasibility of making the parts themselves with a 3D printer? Seems like it would be a way to get new door panels, clips, odds and ends that are no longer produced.
Not sure what it would cost, but thought I would throw the idea out there and see what sort of reaction it gets.
I guess this would also allow us to redesign some things so they last longer? (Door panels cracking comes to mind).

| Somebody did design one-piece door panels somewhere. I've seen them for sale. They were insanely expensive.
A 3D printer would be interesting.... |

No luck =( I need the plastic clip that the door lock bar on the tailgate runs through - both mine are broken.
Found some other clips I need though.

| s1l1sc...can you attach a pic of the part you are speaking of so we all can be on the lookout when we go yarding? Always good to be pulling and saving the "hard to find" bits off the wagons that will be going to the crushers. | |

| On my 94 RMW, I used a dye and cut a few threads onto the end of the rod and used a nut with Nylon to hold it in place. Works about 95% The bad 5% is when you pull up on the release the handle stays up until you shut the gate again, but that's minor IMHO. 95,000 miles later it hasn't missed a beat | |

| Are we talking about the bar that opens the gate like a tail gate? Has anyone tried a push washer? | |
