The good news is that you don't need to change your seat. Just get a working seat rail from any 77-96 full size, and swap it under your seat.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have the same kind of "power seat issue" and was wondering how I should go about fixing it. Eight way power seat works fine in all directions except the two important ones: Forward and Backward. It sounds like the motors are working, but maybe the gear or something is broken? Just want to know if I need to replace the whole power seat rail, or if its a small part to find.
Took a vid to better illustrate the issue.
Thanks all.

If you're lucky, the cable from the motor that moves the rail front/back is loose. Unbolt seat, tip back, try the switch, you'll find the problem fast.
