My tach isn't working. When I start my vehicle the tach sweeps all the way to the right and stays there. Any ideas on where to start?

Ok...so the needle is staying to the right of my tach...when I start the car, the needle goes to the half point and then goes back to the right and doesn't move

Might be a bad tach, internal electric components failure inside the tach.
