Just to start something I think Ill list the Tech Specs and yearly
changes for anyone to look at in the future just for reference.

1991- Wagon only year 5.0l V8 w/170hp and 255tq.
1992- Sedan and wagon has 5.7l V8 w/ 180hp and 300tq.
1993- Sedan and wagon has no significant changes except power window lockout protect and more sound deadening.
1994- Sedan and wagon have a big year w/ new de-tuned corvette LT1
making 260hp and 335tq and both get redesigned dashes with dual airbags
and new gauges.
1995- Sedan and wagon get new radios and also receive bigger side
mirrors and heated and memory seats become an option. Still 260hp and
335tq
1996- Sedan and wagon get new collectors edition names and its their
last year, they also receive new center consoles with more storage and
they also each get automatic climate control and premium speakers
standard. Finally they also receive long life coolant, but in the
process of getting OBDII computers they also loose like 5tq, now at
260hp and 330tq.
All years have a 4speed automatic trans.

TBI rmw and custom cruisers have full gauge packages, 94+ do not.
TBI rmw and custom cruiser have single sleeker roof rack bar.
LT1 rmw with auto climate control have a defog (floor and defrost) setting and the climate controls hold the settings for when the vehicle is started next.
95/96 wagons have wider rear seat cushion with a different hinge set-up. The original rear seat design is apparently from the 70's.

  • '94 wagons got the one-piece hinge design for the second row seat as well.
  • Have you ever seen an RMW without automatic climate control?
  • '93 sedans had a revised rear section with the newer taillights and fully open rear wheel wells.
  • '96 vehicles with grey interiors got revised seatbelts with a plastic cover that always seems to break off.
  • Early '94 RMWs had a gauge cluster with no white bars around the idiot lights AND a white gear select
  • indicator. Later '94s and the rest of the production run got white bars around the idiot lights and an orange
  • gear select indicator.
  • '95 and up radiators eliminated a bleed line from the radiator to the expansion tank. '94 radiators and expansion tanks have provisions for this line.
  • '91-93 wagons with air leveling had the compressor in the left rear; '94-96 wagons had it beneath the LF headlight.
  • '95 and up vehicles got an additional control solenoid in the transmission to allow the computer to smooth the application of the torque converter clutch (TCC). This was a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) solenoid apparently tended to make the valve it controlled flutter in the bore, and thus wear the bore. Several options are available to fix it. In the 1996 vehicles, this problem throws a 1870 code.
  • There were a very small number of '94-96 Roadmaster wagons made with a "very low options" package - this included manual front seats, manual mirrors, no twilight sentinel (thus no automatic headlights), and I believe no power antenna.
  • some (perhaps all) '94s got an auxiliary battery post (next to the underhood fuse box) made out of zinc instead of brass. This tended to cause fires, so most all of them were replaced via TSB.
  • '91-93 wagons had the option of 2.73 or 3.23 rear axles. '94-96 wagons had the option of 2.56 or 2.93 rear axles.
  • '94s thought mid '95s had exhaust manifold AIR fittings that are 7/8-18 thread; M22x1.5 pipe plugs work really good to fill this hole (trust me on this - I had my 7/8"-18 plugs vibrate out over time, so having binding threads is a GOOD thing); Late '95s through '96s had slightly different AIR pump connections that used a more common 3/4"-?? thread.
  • All '94-96 Caprice/Roadmaster/Impala/Fleetwood used the same "vented" optispark distributor as found on '95-97 camaro/firebirds.
  • The '94-96 Roadmaster and Fleetwood climate control units can also display engine, ABS and climate control trouble codes and allow viewing of a number of diagnostic parameters in real time (although only one at a time)

The radiators changed sometime during the 95 Model year so some 95s have the bleed line on them.
