| What size tires do you have now? The 235-70s will be OK with your current VSS gears. The 255-60s will reqire a new driven gear for the VSS, or the speedo and odo will be off noticably. The 255-60s are only a 27 inch tire. The OEM 225-75s are 28 inch tires. The 235s are close enough to work. | |

The 235s do not require a VSS gear change. In fact they may even make the speedo more accurate than the 225s. The 225s usually show 2-3 MPH slow on the speedo with stock VSS gears.

Actually, I've found the 235's made my speedo less accurate. When I had my 225's the speedo was 0-1mph off. Now its 2-3. And since the heights are so close it'd be a waste of time/money to bother replacing it.

| I checked the difference, and the difference between the 225/75 and 235/70 is that the speedometer will read .7 mph faster with the 235, so that should male a 1 mph slow speedo more accurate. | |

| Probably the circuit board on the back of the cluster. The only way you could tell, for sure is to test your cluster in another car, or swap it out for a known good cluster. | |

| all my TBI clusters are off 7-10 with stock 225s on 'em. 4 different cars and they've ranged from 7-10 off when compared to a GPS. Both LT1s I've driven long distances speedo is spot on. Figured it was a refinement issue with the new computer. | |

| The computer does not control the speedo on the TBI cars. Miine are both totally linear. The Starship is off by +.5 at 45, and the White Elephant is off by -2 at 45. I run them by a speed check at a school crossing, frequently. I have also seen some speed checks at higher speeds, and they are both linearly off at higher speeds. There are only 3 parts to the speedo system on the TBI cars; the VSS, VSS module, and the speedometer. the VSS is gear driven. It can not vary the output from the gears. There is a "motor" which puts out a pulsed signal from inside the VSS. The VSS module interprets the signal, and uses it to control the speedo, and the cruise control. It also inputs to the computer. The only way to test the output (other than parts swapping), is to use an oscilloscope and look for the pulsed shape. | |
