using the parts car,. i,ve been adding parts to the orange wagon,.

Using the HVAC display i,ve been clearing history codes and working on current ones,.

added a working air pump relay, which got rid of the CEL temprorarily,.added a ("i think its good") primary fan which didn't work,.(so much for hoarding parts) switched it out for one that i actually checked to see if it worked before i put it on the car,.(DOH),... then added a new temp sensor in the water pump, now the fans work and no check engine light,.

FINALLY found the reason the a/c compressor is(was) not getting a command,. the rubber connector on the low pressure switch was NFG, so spliced in another and voila now the compressor will kick in,.

hurried off to my pals' place and vacuumed the system,. looking good holding 28.7inches,..was getting excited now,.
added 1lb 12oz of juice,. and voila,er?.... sort of cold?

Ok too high a pressure on low side,. so i was going to pull the juice out and do the orifice tube,.
Shut the car off and could HEAR a leak,.!!
WTF!!
so after all that the compressor bearing and seal are NFG,. it'll hold vacuum,. but doesn't like pressure,.
gaaaak,.

motored home, took the family out for dinner,.3 miles from home i,ve got dim lights , lights flashing in the dash,. car quits just as i pull into our first driveway,. NO battery power,.alternator has given up the ghost,.
The alternator was really hot to the touch,.so today i rob the alternator off the parts car,..Grrrr.....

but i,m pleased the CEL is gone and it's cooling etc like it should instead of the hillbilly jumper wire to the secondary fan in the fuse box wired to key on,..

Now if i could only get the air bag light out with its dtc 24,. i,d be ...happier?

time for an E-bay a/c "kit"

Oh and while the car was on the hoist i fired up the plasma and the huth, and a little bit of mig, and did the 2MD mod,.

now it sounds like it looks,.. Laughing

I hate AC problems. I've also put on a fan I "thought" was good only to find out it wasn't.

I just finished replacing my AC compressor, Dryer, and orifice tube this weekend. She's blowing nice and cold. I got the kit form rock auto for under 200.00. The job was really easy just hated the initial cost of buying all the tools required to get it done right. You know the phrase "if you want something done right. . .do it yourself" well that definitely applied with my R134a conversion on Ms. Roadie.
