second row seat questions Empty
PostSubject: second row seat questions   second row seat questions Icon_minitimeSat Feb 07, 2015 2:35 pm

Of course, now that I'm looking for it I can't seem to find the post that described the differences between 93 and older seat frames and 94 to 96 rear seat frames. I want to put a rear seat back into my 95 Caprice, but I do not have the folding mechanism for the seat. Right now I just have an Impala backseat stuffed in place. I went to a local bone yard and all I could find was a 93 or older rear seat. The upper part looks like my 94 Wagon used to, but I don't remember what the end look like at the bottom. So what does it take to fit a pre 94 seat into a 95 wagon? I see the big triangular brackets that hold the pivot mechanism to the floor pan, is it just a matter of fitting those brackets to the 95 body? I am not entirely concerned with having the ability to lock the second row seat down in the down position if that matters.

Also, the wagon has a decent rear cargo floor, but it appears to be metal, not composite like my 95...

Thoughts?

The 91-93s have a metal cargo bay floor, and a hinged panel that covers the gap between the cargo bay and the rear seat, when it is in the down position. The 94-96s have a piece of carpet with Velcro on the front edge that holds it to the seat back. I do not know if the 91-93 seats can be installed into the 94-96 cars. The hinged panel on the earlier cars locks the seat back on the down position. I do not think the later models have a provision for locking the seat in the down position. The seat backs for the two designs are substantially different, but the bracket may be the same. The screws that hold the bracket to the seat are nearly impossible to remove. The seat colors will be different from the earlier to later models. The upper seat covers are not interchangeable.

The wagon i found in the boneyard had almost a complete folding cover. The 2nd row seat back frame is already partially separated from the cushion. I really only need the sear frame to fit my Impala SS seat cushion to. I might go yank it out and give it a shot. .
