| Thanks for choosing me. I bought this '92 Roadmaster wagon December 7th, 2013. i scored it for $1500 with a tad under 87,000 miles. It had brand new 225/70.15 whitewall tires as well. i headed back home, which was 80 miles away. The wagon started stalling about 5 miles from the house. Luckily, i made it safely. It was the usual culprit, a split in the short rubber hose on the sending unit. As usual, i searched for some good deals/coupons and scored the ACDelco fuel pump for $25 and the spectra sending unit for around $70. replaced it along with the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, air filter, PCV Valve, fuel filter, IAC valve, and throttle position sensor while it was down. Also, swapped the stock 15's for some impala wheels that i took off my SS. Shortly after that, i found a Delphi Radiator with the engine oil cooler and trans cooler for $90 on ebay. normal price was around $175. replaced the upper & lower radiator hose while flushing the coolant system repeatedly. also put a new thermostat & housing, and a new radiator cap. after that, i noticed some oil leaking from the cooler lines. I read that many ppl do the oil cooler delete mod but i had already bought the ACDelco lines ($54) so i just went ahead and installed. Next, I Put some smoked headlights in, got the windows tinted, threw in some interior LED's and installed the stock stereo out of my impala right before i put this cruise ship on the road to Wagonfest Daytona for the first time. also right before wagonfest, i replaced all the shocks with monroe severe service. Needless to say, it was an amazing upgrade. after wagonfest, i started to change a couple things in the interior. found a nice woodgrain steering wheel for about $40 on ebay. found the adapter kit for cheap too. changed the roady spring loaded door pulls to woodgrain ones and found some polished door bulls for about $100. While i had the door panels off, i made some 6.5" door speaker pieces. Sadly, the transmission went out shortly after. it was down for a while. i bought all the parts myself, and upgraded some of the pieces as well. like the corvette servo and boost valve. i spent roughly $602 on the parts. my friend then took the old trans out, rebuilt it with my parts and re-installed for $750. the total trans job cost $1350, which wasn't to bad.

| Thanks for the nice writeup. Great pictures and story. I remember seeing that wagon in Virginia Highlands (Atlanta) while visiting my son. I love the color, but having two already (and the Mrs. was with me), I knew I could only look. Glad you got it and have made it into a nice ride.

I've only seen one other one and unfortunately it was in the JY. At first I thought is a repaint as I had never seen the color on a Buick (Chevy and Olds yes). I also saw one Chevy with wood in a teal color right when I got in the game in 2007 and never another. There was an elderly lady driving so I assumed it was a factory color (may have been ordered) but then again maybe not.... | |
