| I would pick Fred Kiehls brain. He just started a new thread on a 454 build. | |

| I have just disassembled the donor engine. I have not made any measurements for mounting. I am told that the engine mounts put it in the proper place to bolt to the trans. You may need a stronger build for your trans for the added HP and TQ. I am researching a trans, and one of them is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] They have some 700R4/4L60(e) trans builds that are suppose to handle almost anything you throw at them. They are not cheap. There are some threads on impalassforum.com about BB installs. Since my car is lowered, I am going to use shorty headers, and oval exhaust pipe under the passenger compartment. | |

I'll say ditto on this advice. I've seen a couple in person and they fit just fine, just do your homework and learn from others | |

| I was thinking I would just go with a th400 trans but I don't know how that would mount up | |

| Depending on the HP, the 700R4 can be made to handle most engines. The trans would bolt up directly with the same mounts, you can use the original linkage, and the engine will bolt to the frame with the BB mounts in the same place as the small block. You may have to do a little wiring, things might get a little tight under the car, and you will have to make a hump in the trans mount for the dual exhaust on the driver's side. I do not know if the TH400 will bolt up to the original trans crossmember. | |

| A crossmember from a boxie wagon could work for a TH400 since the 200-4R had the rear trans mount in the same location. | |
