| LIFE has been a bit crazy lately folks, sorry for not checking in more, or updating my profile. Lots of car-swapping going on down here too....some of it HURT. Here's the latest for those that care: The big blow, I sold my plum-mist 1967 GTO project..ouch. I realized I never have funds for it, and have kids to put through college soon. I felt like one of those "gonna fix it up one day" idiots that let great cars rot into the ground. SO I sold the Goat to my good friend Rich up in Fredericksburg. He's already doing bodywork on it, and I'm enjoying getting to see it being fixed, and will get some behind-the-wheel time in the future, which I can't wait for. It is what it is.... NEXT, I sold the '90 K5 Blazer. My son cried, and it broke my heart, but we'll get him a solid Texas project when he's older. The floorboards were shot..and I took it to a friend to see about fixing it, and also a rust-spot on the roof. He sanded the rust-spot and found the entire roof of the cab was pinholed and covered with filler. It just was more work than I could handle. Also...my son let his grades slip a bit, and I'd told him if that happened, the Blazer had to go, so between the grades and rust, it's gone. A nice guy bought it to keep at his lake house, so the Blazer will live out it's days pulling his boat in and out of Canyon Lake. It will do that fine for years to come. AND we sold our pretty white 1996 Bonneville my wife drove. I loved that car, and it had just hit 100K miles, still super-low for a '96. What happened was my friend Truong got a dealer license, and came back from the auto auction with a CLEAN 36K miles '08 Chevy Trailblazer, and my wife fell in love with it. He offered it to us for nearly what he bought it for...and while I was never a fan of Trailblazers, this was too good a deal to pass up. We've put 2K miles on it and it's been wonderful, no problems at all. I like the color, the 4.2 I-6 has a lot of power, and it's got a factory tow-pack. Pulls my boat fine, but sure feels little! Misty loves it, that's what matters, she feels like she had a NEW car: Oh and the Bonneville is a good story too. A man from Minnesota bought it! He loves 90's-era Bonnys, and has two already, but the rust is getting them and he says they are all rusty up there now. He flew to Texas and drove it home. Loves it, says it will be his retirement toy, and will live in the garage and only come out in nice weather. He called me on the drive home, said the car did great. I miss it already...I'm sure I'll eventually have another '90's Bonny. OH and the '82 Z28 is still a work in progress. We've installed the new 700R4 tranny, the new 3.23 rear axle, but the engine still is not working right, so we're in the process of removing the computer and garbage and going with a new carb and vacuum distributor. Hopefully that will FINALLY get it running the way it should. Projects! Lastly I bought another motorcycle for my wife to ride. It's an oddball too, a 1991 Suzuki VX800. These are a traditional standard bike, but use the Intruder cruiser engines. Only 4K miles on it, and easy for my wife to handle. They only sold them in the states for a few years, and it's somewhat odd-looking, but everyone know I like oddball vehicles! Ha! So that's the latest from Lake Woebegone...err Round Rock Texas. Hope all you folks are doing well!! -Mike | |

| Good to see you are rolling with the changes, both good and bad. I recently got a 2007 Saab 9-7X,the Trailblazers snooty cousin. So far,so good. | |

Nice Tahoe. Classic!!!! Mine told me that "Maybe shcool is not for you". I agreed, dropped out and got my GED, joined the Army, did 21 years and retired at 39 with a pention and a chest full of medals. And I wouldn't change a single thing.

Then again you wouldn't be THERE.

| Only thing that's been on my to do list since I've got mine is swap steering wheels, Temp/compass mirror, side mirror turn signals and Neoprene seat covers. But I'm going to need tires before too long and think it would be nicer with a taller set of tires and lowered gears to match it nicely. | |

'04 XUV: Had this for a while now, slowly working to bring it up to speed. Spent the last few weekends working on the interior (removed everything except the dash & headliner so the carpet could be taken out and pressure washed). Still collecting parts to bring it up to Denali specs. So far I have acquired most everything exterior-wise, except for a set of the XL Denali specific running boards. If anyone's looking, at some point I'll have the original turn signal mirrors available as a pair of the color matched Denali ones are standing by to replace them. - J

Then again you wouldn't be THERE. Actually I would still be here. After living all over the US growing up, Austin is by far my favorite place to call home, but I'd have a house on Lake Travis with a 10-car garage and it's be full of classic cars...and a new Escalade for my wife and a Silverado High Country for me for daily use. Oh and a Roadmaster wagon. Same one I have now. -Mike

| Nice to see some other Envoy/Trailblazers out there. I'm about to pull the dash and door panels apart on ours this weekend for a new stereo. My wife wants Bluetooth/Pandora.
Projects!

Is this the one that the roof slid back to turn it into a sudo pick up truck? I always thought that was a strange idea. You dont see those much anymore.

Yep: Tailgate can be opened both ways, like a B-Body. If you don't need all 4 seats, the midgate window lowers and the gate can be then folded down once the rear seats are folded forward. I thought it was a pretty good compromise between a pickup and an SUV. It was always a worry when carrying greasy/oily parts that they would mess up the interior to the point that it couldn't be cleaned up afterwards.

I think that's pretty sweet! Hardly saw those even when new. And yes, reminds me of the Studebaker Wagonaire!

| Jay just a question, how hard is it to add the signal-mirrors? Do you know. Being a lowly-Trailblazer LT, I don't have those, but they are common in the salvage yards. I'm sure the actual install is just a bolt-on, but was curious about the wiring.

-Mike There used to be a dedicated mirror turn signal how-to article over at TrailVoy.com, but the links pointing to it are currently broken: http://forums.trailvoy.com/ - stewzer55 wrote:

Some say yes, most say no. If any are already fitted with the correct harnesss, it would seem most likely to be the later models. Another resource to help you find the answers: http://gmtnation.com/forums/- J
