I cranked my 91 Caprice wagon today for the first time in several months.I'm planning to insure and tag it again soon. I have a few things to do before it will pass inspection. I will have to replace both headlight bulbs and deal with broken horn switches. It will need a major clean-up too. Very Happy

Sounds good, get er rollin.  How thorough of an inspection?  State?

And both headlights out at the same time, damn sounds like the life expectancy was a little too right on for the pair. One time I had both headlights go out at the same time going 70 at 3am in the middle of nowhere NY before....talk about an eye opener. Shocked

Only 1 light is burned out but it has the blue tint lights in it and I don't like them, so I will replace both with regular 9004 bulbs. My daily driver has been a 1956 Ford truck with a 500 Cadillac engine. I want to use the wagon as my daily ride for a while. The roads here seldom get salted so I'm not worried about that. I think the heater works well in the wagon.

Did you look at the LED headlight bulbs on ebay? The 80W bulbs are the easiest to install. They put out a lot more light than the 9004s, and use about half of the current, making your OEM wiring sufficient. They are a bright white (not blue), and really light up the road. I sniped a set for $43 shipped.

I picked up a couple of regular 9004s at O'reilly's for $6. I found that the cancelling cam/ horn contact ring is broken. So , for now I blow the horn by inserting a small screw driver into the hole, with the horn pad / air bag off. That will allow it to pass inspection. I will replace the part later when I tear into the column to fix the loose tilt situation. I also found that I have a leaking wheel cylinder on the drivers side rear. I will replace both rear cylinders and the brake shoes. The front brake pads are good. I repacked the front wheel bearings and replaced the seals. I'll be on the road again in a week or two.

Tomorrow is the big day. On Tuesday I got new tires and have new brake shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear. In the morning I will drive the wagon to work for the first time in a couple of years. I drive about 8 miles to get to Interstate 40 , then 8 miles on the interstate. A winter storm is forecast for Friday , so we'll see how it goes in some snow , I guess.

First day went great. When I drove my wagon before it was spring, summer, and early fall. Then I parked it for over a year. I had no idea , until today, how well the heater worked. The rear window de-icer and wiper is great too. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
