Yes, it will work. But, unless it's a commercial unit, it's not made for continuous duty. It will likely overheat and cut out from thermal overload if so protected, and melt if not. A cheap heat gun might be a better bet, and you won't incur the wrath of the hair drier owner...which can be an issue if you live under the same roof.
