1991 Olds Custom Cruiser unlocks and locks car by itself

My problem started several days ago. I heard the constant sound of the rear window release being activated, by itself, every 20 seconds or so.

Plus, my power locks wouldn't work.

I pulled both 30A circuit breakers from the fuse box and the rear window release stopped activating. I put them back in and all was well, including the locks.

Then yesterday, I left the car unlocked and left the keys in the ignition while I parked for about 15 minutes. Not smart!

When I returned, my car was completely locked up, doors and rear window.

AAA came to rescue. Sure is easy to break into a car if you have the right tools!

My remote key fob hasn't worked for years. Not sure if that is important or not, so I include this fact.

I don't have any of these problems right now, but who knows if they won't return?

Any suggestions? I have the service manual for my car, but it doesn't cover these symptoms.

Don't know if this will help but just yesterday I was looking at a 92 OCC to buy. I popped the hatch with the button on the tailgate and then heard the solenoid clicking every five or ten seconds. I saw that the stainless button was stuck down in the trim and was able to fish it back out and the clicking stopped. Maybe your button is hanging up?

With the age of our cars I would strongly suggest you check all of your Ground points. I have seen some weird stuff happen when something uses a power wire for the ground circuit.

Also if you are not using your Key-less entry just disconnect the module. Who knows it could be Andebe's Aliens messing with you.

The only thing common to the gate glass and the door locks is the keyless entry module. I would disconnect the module, or replace it (and have working keyless entry). The 92-93 modules will work with all 91-93 cars. The 91 module is slightly different, but it is also extremely difficult to find. You want one with the green connectors on the module.

I removed the keyless entry module and noticed that when it is disconnected the electric door locks work, but not on the driver's side. Strange.

Is that the driver's side front or both the front and rear? Your relay under the kick panel on the driver's side may be faulty. They are cheap to replace. Be careful removing the door sill. They are easy to break at the cover for the seat belt bolt cover. You must remove it to get the kick panel out. I got a donor door sill and made mine like the 94-96 parts with separate pieces for the front and back. You may have to remove the A pillar trim to get it out. You may also have some wiring issues, so check the wiring carefully while you have the sill up.

The only time the driver's side door electric lock doesn't work is when the keyless module is removed.

I've put it back in temporarily and will see what happens when I replace it.
