Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement Empty
PostSubject: Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement   Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement Icon_minitimeFri Jul 01, 2016 11:40 am

I ordered a fuel pressure regulator when I ordered a replacement fuel pump (which solved my issue), but I decided to replace the regulator, yesterday.
Can anyone describe how to remove the pressure line to regulator clamp? From the FSM drawing, it appears to swing open, but how that’s done sure isn’t obvious.
Would it be a good idea to have a spare clamp on hand, before I start?

I’m thinking the best way may be to disconnect the short pressure line from the supply line, remove the regulator from the fuel rail, and try to open the clamp on the bench. Doing so, looks like it will require removing the fuel and return line clamp, which is held together with a nearly inaccessible torx screw.

Anyone have any experience with this?

If it works, don't fix it. Why open a can of worms when you do not have to.

I agree with Fred.
that being said if you're set on changing it, the little clamp is just a U shaped clamp. Just pry one of the legs and it will pop off. It is more difficult to get back on properly.

I disconnected the fuel line and removed the regulator completely when I changed mine.

Thanks for the replies!
Yes, normally if it's working, I agree----don't fix it.
But in this case, I've got $50+ in a Delphi part sitting on the shelf, and the one on the car with 21 years and 175K on it.
And I notice it has a fine screen on the outlet that's got to have at least something in it by this time, and I assume a rubber or neoprene diaphragm inside.
