Speaker cuts out when I turn Empty

My pretty-new-to-me 92 Roadmaster has the stock speakers in it, and the driver's side door panel is messed up in all kinds of ways. One of them: The speaker cuts out constantly, or maybe cuts in constantly at this point.

It'll go in and out when I make a right turn, or when I push in on my crappy door panel. I'm probably going to buy new speakers anyway, but does this sound like a speaker issue or something else? I had the head unit (one of the 1.5 DIN Pioneer models) out to install an AUX jack, so I don't think it's a connection going into the head unit, but I could certainly be wrong.

You might want to take a look at the wiring boot between the door and the body. Check for any physical damage. A split or cracked boot will eventually damage the wiring within.

Given that the cut out is conditional, I'd check to see if it is a wire swinging and rubbing to a point where it either disconnects or shorts.

In case anybody has the same problem I did: The problem turns out to have been much dumber, but also much easier, than I feared.

I finally pulled the speaker to replace it with a new one last night, and it turns out the contacts going out to the speaker were pried open on one side; when I would turn, the speaker plug would sometimes touch both sets of contacts and turn on. I pushed them back together and everything sounds—well, not good, because it's the stock speakers, but right.
