just started happening,thinking the trans lockout switch(correct term?) is almost gone. leaving gear in neutral and using e brake to hold car now. . if i forget and put it in park when parking( 3times so far) i have been applying the foot brake and/or restarting the car and tapping brake pedal hoping to activate the switch! started happening last weekend. suggestions/experiences ? thanx, mike

The press brake to pass solenoid is not being deactivated when you push the brake pedal. If you disconnect the connector to the solenoid, it disables the solenoid, and you can shift into and out of park without touching the brake pedal.

My guess is that the brake switch is not breaking contact when you apply the brake to shift out of park. With the engine on, check your connector for power before and during pressing the brake pedal. There should be no power when you press the brake pedal.
