To all Photobucket users

Apparently, Photobucket will now be charging for the service of storage with the ability to link photos, such as every single photo I have ever uploaded to this forum

According to their policy terms, there are now several types of memberships! The least expensive that I found to allow linking to this and other forums is $99.00 which incudes over 100GB of storage.

Bottom line is the free ride is over.

Chances are from this point you will see MANY forums with gray blanks were pictures used to be. To my knowledge, this forum does not allow direct uploads from our computers and must link an offsite web storage link to be able to display your photos. Please correct me if you have discovered a direct way to upload, but I don't think our hosting site allows that feature.

I use Photobucket along with my friends for photography class and urbex stuff so I too am quite irritated that they've done this.

Anyway, in the text editor, this icon...

...lets you upload and host an image right here on the forum. I used it to upload that screenshot as a matter of fact. It's real nice because it also gives you the option to re-size an image as you're uploading it which is nice for people like me with very high-res images.

Alternatively, Imgur and Tinypic are both great sites as well.

Yup...I'm even struggling to find things (that I wish I would have saved before now) on the LX / Dodge Forums too. Big loss.

I've seen a few petitions going around over this, and I've read through dozens of news articles of people complaining about the 3rd-party fee.

Trust me, enough people will leave the site for Imgur and others that this will quickly blow up in their face and it'll become free again. Just a matter of time.
