| Sorry for the double-post. Have this in the wanted section too....but WANTED to make sure everyone saw it. The handle trim BOTHERS me.
Hi again all. The inside of my car is nearly perfect, but when I bought it all four of the rectangular trim pieces around the door handles were cracked near the handles. These have the lock sliders in them and front speaker grills and rear fake grills. My guess is the door panels came off at one time to fix windows, and whoever did it forced the trim over the metal handles and broke them.
So far I've only only been able to locate a good driver's rear door one in the salvage yards here. I still need that trim for both front doors and the right rear door. If anyone has a parts car or spots these in a salvage yards and yanks them, please let me know.
I also have a crack in the lower driver's door panel. The hard plastic in front and below of the arm rest pad. You can't see it when the door is closed but it bothers me every time I open the door, and I know it'll get worse...MAN they went plastic crazy on these cars.
Lastly, the drivers rear door armrest pad is warped right where you rest your elbow. All my other ones are perfect, no idea what that one in the back went bad.
If you folks come across any of these parts please let me know. The rectangular trim is my #1 concern. makes me crazy that their broken....ha!
Thanks all and am really enjoying the forum!

| On the driver's door panel, take the door panel off NOW and fiberglass the back of it. That is the only way to stop the crack from spreading.
ALL ROADMASTER DRIVER'S DOOR PANELS WILL CRACK AT THIS LOCATION AHEAD OF THE ARMREST.
It is only a matter of time.

| Sherlock is correct, I just fiberglassed one this weekend, very easy to do. When removing the door panel, you are likely to find other damage. You can fix them, actually you dond't have much choice, as they are not made anymore and are next to impossible to find. Be very careful when removing the door panel
There are 2 phillips head screws behind the ends of the straps, be very careful when unhooking the ends or you will break another piece that you will have to fix. There is also a phillips head screw that is in the lower outside corner of the door, by the pocket. You have to look closely to find it.
You will need to get a special tool for removing the Christmas tree door clips. It is shaped like a fork almost like one of those garden tools for digging up dandilions. The cost is somewhere near $5 to $7 dollars at an auto store. I believe there are 6 clips, may only be 5. Be very careful.
Like sherlock says, DO IT NOW! It is fixable now, but they can become junk very quick.
As for the bezels you are looking for, buy any color as they are getting scarce also. You can SEM them to your color. Ruby Red GM code 79I = SEM 4791
Good Luck

| What kind of fiberglass do you use? Think I'm going to tackle this project over the weekend. The light in that door also does not work, and it's not the bulb. Have a feeling whoever took the door panel off last time left it unplugged.
Will go pick up some new Christmas Tree clips at the parts store as well. Want the door to be as tight as it can be.
I've not pulled these door panels off yet. Other than the clips and screws behind the pull straps, are there any other bolts holding the door panels on? I know on the older B-Body cars there were hidden bolts under the arm rest pads. Are them some hiding under the window/door switches?
Also, while the panel is off, should I lube something on the window tracks? All my windows work fine...and I want them to continue to do so. ; )
Thanks in advance for the tips and help!

| If you put the window down, it will allow the nubs that fit in the slots at the top edge of the door to disengage more easily. There are three of them. If you can not get them off easily, you can raise the panel and reach underneath with a long screwdriver pushing to disengage them. Do not bend the wiper strip. After releasing the rear nub, carefully lift the panel from the rear, and rotate toward the front while pushing toward the window in the center of the wiper strip.
Check for cracked sliders. If they are cracked, replace them. The rear slider is the only one I have ever seen broken.

| Mike don't forget that screw that I mentioned by the pocket. I believe I bought a fiberglass kit at WalMarts. for about $11. It is the type that has the cloth. Biggest tip: don't force anything. Take you time repairing and look for additional problems.
Any questions, ask.
