FINALLY got my PCM reprogrammed Empty
PostSubject: FINALLY got my PCM reprogrammed   FINALLY got my PCM reprogrammed Icon_minitimeTue Jun 12, 2018 10:03 am

So the PCM came back in yesterday from Alex at PCM Performance (www.pcmperformance.com) and I installed it last night. Did a 91-octane tune (fuel and timing mod), along with disabling the AIR pump, VATS, setting the fans to come on at a lower engine temp, and setting the wheel/tire settings to the 17-inch size I've been running for 10-years now. He also had asked about the intake setup (K&N with AEM dry filter) and exhaust (stock duals but with Flowmaster 40's), and tuned for those mods as well. I did not have him mess with the rear 02 settings, or the transmission (original and 135K miles).

I am really pleased with the power increase. I wasn't sure if I'd actually FEEL a change, and mainly wanted to do this program update for the fan and VATS mods, but the car REALLY has a lot more low and midrange power. I've not gotten it on the highway yet, but I sure made my son laugh out loud when I took off and got tire spin at mid-throttle in front of our home last night. Pretty wild!

I WAS hoping that BOTH fans would be on when the a/c was on. The passenger-side fan does come on at lower engine temp now, and of course with the a/c on, it's on, but in the little time I messed with the car last night, the driver's side fan never came on. I'm going to drive the car in the heat tomorrow and see if it kicks on then. We'll see.

BUT AGAIN, I'm happy with the power gain. Such Fun!

Stop worrying about the darn fan, lol.

Only one comes on with the AC. It pulls air across the condenser so the AC works correctly. Without airflow the pressures will spike and the compressor will shut off.

PN for that filter, please. I'd like to ditch my oiled K&N.

Jay I don't remember the exact dimensions you need, but you should be able to look up the K&N FIPK and get the filter size. Here is the AEM link: https://www.aemintakes.com/search/universal.aspx
