General Altimax has worked well for me on Caprice and Roadmaster wagons as a 3-season tire. However, if you are going to drive in the snow, I'd suggest getting an extra set of wheels and four real snow tires (Winterforce or Blizzaks are very good). On snow and ice you'll need forward traction, ability to turn, and eventually you'll need to stop over 2.5 tons in motion or meet new people in the car in front of you.
Supposed all-season tires, if they are actually rated for use on ice and snow, tend to do everything at a mediocre level, and also tend to have short tread life (a consequence of the softer compound layer needed for snow and ice traction). But, at least they are expensive!
