| Was the 1.5 inch robber hose on top of the fuel pump. So as you all know (or maybe not), I have a fleet of 5 wagons. In Jan my wife's 94 fuel pump died in the Walgreen's parking lot. Dead, no life call AAA. Then I put my early OCC (number 139) on the road and after two weeks of driving, it's fuel pump went. Both of those were alot of wasted time with mis diagnosis (aka denial). Last weekend, I finally got my 'late' edition OCC (number 868 ) on the road and started driving Monday with HIGH hopes to bring it to fest as it's in pretty good shape (good paint and interior). This morning I was to meet Stingroo and his Caddy buddies at the JY. Rolled out of the driveway and into the Mickey D's drive thru for some coffee and a McGriddle and it died pulling up to the pay window. Hmmmm. Restart it roll up and put in N. Idle surging, pay the lady put it in drive and it drops out again. 4 restarts to get out of the drive thru. CRAP!!! I'm just about to hop on the interstate for a 30 mile run and decide on common sense as I"m less than a mile from the house. Nurse it home in first gear. Stalls in any gear, surges in N. My daughters B-day party today so no dice on working on it, although I did buy a can a Sea Foam dumped it in and also grabbed a fuel filter but experience from this year already tells me what's up. Just filled the tank 20 miles ago too.....Damn I hate siphoning gas, it tastes horrible. Tomorrows 'easy' fix will be to swap complete tanks from the two OCCs.

| wow man... talk about a run of bad pump luck. I hate fixing the same problem over and over. Maybe that's why I don't keep cars for any length of time. haha. | |

| Yuck...sorry man. Sucks doing all that on your back too. I gotta do the Fuel Pump on my OCC in the next couple weeks (since I found out it is still on it's first one!) Lol Not bragging though.

| Think of it this way, soon you will have changed all the pumps and hopefully avoid it for a looooong time. Although you will probably just add another wagon to the fleet and continue replacing the pump. I too know what a pita it is owning a lot of cars. I have 6 right now (only 2 are B-bodies) and its a never ending chore to keep up with problems. You easily become your own fleet mechanic! | |

| I know you've got to hate that. I think it's just a fact of life owning these cars. I have come to the conclusion that B-bodies are an extremely jealous lot. Not only of other cars but of each other. In my house if I mod or repair one the other one acts up immediately. If I even speak out loud of fixing the cutlass (needs a fuel pump lol) they BOTH show their a**es and suck up all my time and car budget. I can't imagine trying to keep five of them happy!

| After party start up, took about 5 tries but got it to fire. it was hard to keep going and I heard a weird sound looked under the car and saw the muffler popping. apparently unburnt gas detonating in muffler??? I put the sea foam in prior to this. in the AM first thing will be check Fuel Pressure at the filter (disconnect and crank into bucket method. \) Have a pretty good idea know how much should flow | |

Yup, I agree...my '96 is really mad I drive the OCC everyday. I am convinced of it. You should do a write up Sproket and we can sticky it

| Sometimes the little hose between the pump and the output tube splits. I had that happen, and it caused surging at idle. The chore is the same either way. It pays to put a new pump in if you are changing the hose...I changed the hose and the pump failed 2 weeks later...then the new pump screwed up a month after that...you think I was happy!!! That was all on one car, and before I found any help on the forum. | |

Not this time, had 20 miles on a full tank . Siphoned 15 out and the thing was still a PITA to put back up, lol. Turns out it was the stupid little rubber hose from the pump to the sending tube. split wide open. Good news was I had a piece from the last go round and fixed it with out a trip to the parts store. Gonna go road test it right now ;0

| ...about that stinky little looped hose. Don't use the one they sell you that is a thin preshaped loop. Get about 18" of SUBMERSIBLE HIGH PRESSURE hose. Place put a big loop in it add make sure you use the metal screw on hose clamps. Don't use the ittle plastic crimp on retainers. The have a habit of popping off.
Mark the three hoses from the tank so they don't get confused when reinstalling. As long as you are in there, it's a good time to reset the resistor to make your gauge more accurate as well.

| It's good that it saved you on parts but bad you still have to go thru the labor. Kind of makes you wonder though how many shops have sold a customer a new pump when that hose was the only problem.
