| Greetings from Jonesboro Arkansas.
Well the car is got 21mpg with a full load of people and cargo from Austin to northeast Arkansas, and it's 97 degrees and humid...ouch.
Here' the issue. My rear window is not locking with the door lock. Planning to go in to Memphis tomorrow and REALLY hate the idea of leaving the car open there. The tailgate locks just fine, but locked or not when you press the button above the license plate the rear window pops open. Even goofier I can lock the tailgate with the key on the button, but the window still pops.
Anyone had this issue and can tell me a quick fix?
Thanks in advance!

-Mike Sounds like your tailgate solenoid or lock mechanism. I had a similar issue. I could only open it with the key. The lock line may have come undone from the solenoid/ latch. My suggestion is take the cover off of the tailgate and check everything. if you want I can snap some pictures of mine if that'd help.

| Sure if you can. It's goofy, the tailgate locks, the window doesn't. Goofy. | |

| Pop the plastic cover off your tailgate and take a look. I forget if there's a metal panel over the lock mechinism or not.
With the cover off, it's pretty easy to see the lock mechanism and switches. Get in and have someone close the window and watch what happens. Once your in there it'll probably be clear whats going on.

| Sorry, I forgot to grab those pictures. I'll snap some tomorrow morning. But it definitely sounds like the lock mechanism separated from the tailgate solenoid. | |

| Had the same exact issue this past April when I was 1/2 way across the country in a questionable neighborhood.
Pulled into a local gas station and fixed it in about 15 minutes.
Pulled the panel off and watched the mechanism. There is a small micro switch that is in line with the lock pull on the edge of the door. It has a spring that get's weak and won't return when the door is locked. It detects if the lock is unlocked or locked and activates the push button on the back. The default is unlocked.
The quick fix was to disconnect the wire going from the switch. This makes the door think it's locked.
This fixed it temporarily until I was able to get a new switch. (Still need to get a new switch as this has not bugged me enough to fix it yet).
You can still open the glass via the button on the dash and the keyless remote. You can also use a the door key in the rear lock and it will open.
Hope this helps. | |

| There is a 93 wagon in a local yard, same one I got my roof rack rail from. Wonder if it has this piece....and if it's any better than mine.
Will have to go look this weekend. Sure would like to fix this.

| On mine all it does is detect if the door was locked or not. I have a 96 Roadmaster. The lock solenoid is on it's own. | |

| Will have to take this apart and find it. May head to the salvage yard this weekend and see if I can get the one off that car they have. | |
