How noisy is your T56

I just finished installing an M29 T56 in my 94 Caprice. One question I have for people who have done it is how noisy is your transmission? Mine is making all sorts of noises but nothing that sound like a real problem. My friend who helped with the install isn't worried with the noises and he's been working on cars for a long time.

Right now there is nothing but the shifter coming through a hole in the carpet so maybe a boot will quiet it down. I was just wondering if this was common. This has been the single best mod I've done to the car, what a blast it is to drive.

It is a noisy trans. Especially if you haven't sealed the hole! It is also more noisy if you still have high gears. Going with 4.10s/4.56s will quiet it down since it isn't lugging. Mine will growl if I am going up a hill, slowly, in 4th/5th and I get on the gas.

i use aw 10 hydraulic fluid ,. keeps it a bit quieter,.

Sounds like a bowl full of marbles at idles, don't it?

They are normally noisy. Especially if you have the hole open still!!!!

Completely silent.

No whine or rattles at idle - Can't tell it's a T56 car.

I though it was just in general a noisy transmission. Feel a bit better knowing it's not just my 175k junkyard trans making noises.

To clarify, mine is silent at idle as well.
