| Hi there, my name is Dirk and I am 45 old. I am from Germany and my wife's daily is a 98 Tahoe. I also have a 83 Caprice Station Wagon, which I try to restore. Not my first one, but my first restauration. So I hope to get some input... Cheers Dirk | |

| The blue one is the one I had back in the days. Around 2000. The other one is the current project. It was a hearse and it was running with LPG. Because he came from Belgium... That means I have to to a lot of work, just to get him legal running here in Germany. Du sprichst deutsch? | |

THX man. Currently I am working inside on the floor... And also the engine. Not sure if I rebuild the 305 or replace it with a 350. It's not that easy as doing it in the US...

| If you're rebuilding anyway, it costs the same to build a 305 as a 350. 350 would be much nicer. Not sure how it would affect the emissions testing/status in Germany though. I think it'd be easy enough to just put the 350 in and leave the paperwork showing 305. They look the same from the outside (I'm pretty sure) | |

| Thats a little more complicated... In germany it is not affordable to ride this car nowdays under normal circumstances.
Means: now catback system, the car costs about 1.000 tax per year. If I ride this car with an historical permission, it is about 500 tax and insurance together. But only if the car is more ore less original. It's fair to say that you can add modifications which have been 'normal' within the next 10 years. But you have to be careful. Otherwise it could be result in big trouble...
And to get a 350 engine is not that cheap as in the us... ;-)

| Welcome. Nice looking wagon. There is nothing wrong with the 305. In the US they have a bad reputation but they can be massaged a bit to get more respectful performance. By the time your wagon was built, they were de-tuned to pass emissions requirements and only had about 170 hp. I know you have to keep things looking stock for inspections, etc. but with some work can get 250+hp. Google search for 305 with 250 hp | |
