| I have the Stock radio and ant. in my wagon.
Wagons use a different fitting since the ant are mounted to the sloping side of the right front fender.
Has anyone found a replacement antenna that is simply a whip style that fits in the same exact hole? It would be helpful if the cable it came with was compatible to the radio also.
I bought a variety of units but the fittings wont line up and the cable would blend into the existing female connector remaining on the original car's cable.
If needed I would buy a new radio to get the new antenna to work but I think my limiting factor is getting a normal looking antenna first and then fit the radio in second.
Ok folks - Who has done this already and has sage advice?
Thanks Shrimp

| My original Ant. was stopped in the UP position when I got the car. A few months later I went to a car wash. It bent the ant back so it looked like I was going 200 MPH all the time. I decided since the AM/FM was still OK just to replace the ant. Then after I got the fender apart and removed the old unit, I did not see any good adapters to blend the whip ant. to the fender slope. So I decided to ask around to see if there was a whip ant. kit available. I figured I would just swap in what worked for someone else. Why blaze a new trail in the forest when there is perfectly good trails nearby ?
I can also replace both the radio with a modern unit and then I still need a whip ant. with a slope on the adapter base.
So research first and then I would order the right stuff ! I am thinking of sending an email to Crutchfield and saying I have a 1996 Caprice Wagon. They must have a kit.

| Going to the carwash was your downfall. If the mast is good, you can still get the cable. There are no more masts. | |
