| the passenger side mirror is broken. when trying to use the power adjustment you hear noises in the housing but no movement of the mirror itself. the mirror is manually adjustable and holds position. I am assuming there are two or three bolts holding the mirror housing to the door. Is there any way to safely remove the mirror from the internal mechanism? so I can try and figure out what is going on in there. | |

| I have taken apart the 91 to 94 type mirrors. The principle should be the same. Pop off the cover behind the mirror on the door. There are 3 #10 mm bolts to remove. You may have to remove the door panel to unplug wiring.
If I remember correctly there are a couple of bolts on the bottom side, when removed the head and body will separate. The glass and backing should pop out. It's snaps in to the mechanism that moves the mirror. Apply gentle pressure.
If you end up having to get a replacement at a JY, you should be able to transfer the innards from the new into the old, allowing you to use the old housing.

| I would just hop on eBay, Rock Auto, etc and buy a new mirror. They are pretty cheap and can be painted to match. | |

| For all of the effort it takes to repair a mirror, it is by far more thrifty both expense, and time wise to just get a used one and paint it. | |
