I have drop spindles, and drop springs with some shims to tweak the ride height to what I want. The drop spindles push the wheels out about 1/2 inch. To get the wheel C/L back to the correct position, you need an increased offset. The offset for the wheel should be +18 to compensate. I bought a set of 17X8.5 inch rims with the +18 offset, and realized that it puts the rim about 1/32 of an inch from the tierod end. I guess I just got lucky, because I never thought about clearance in that area. I also put a "Kleen Wheels" disk behind the wheel, and increased the clearance to about 1/16 of an inch. I am going to put 235-55-17s on the rims and am hoping they will not hit the wheelhouses.
I also bought a Moon hubcap to test fit on the new rims, and it looks like they are a perfect fit for what I want to do. Now I must make 4 out of carbon fiber, using the one I have as a mold, and make tabs to hold them on.
