I've got a 91 Oldsmobile custom cruiser and my front seal on my transmission is leaking pretty bad. I'm going to get the factory transmission rebuilt. Wagon is stock with a 305. What's a good kit to get for the trans. Want it better then stock. And a more firm shift

Where are you located? There are some shops that rebuild them so that the known flaws are addressed. Firming up the 1-2 shift can be accomplished with a Corvette servo. 3rd and 4th are the major issue. I have not worked on any transmissions personally, so I can only be general in my comments.

from what I've heard and read one common failure on the 700r4 is the sun shell either warping or cracking, aswell as some parts due to design having lubrication issues which cause overheating, I have looked at Monster transmission who sell rebuild kits with the upgraded known weak parts.

I believe the 91 OCC transmission is a 4L60, not the 700R4.

the 700r4, 4L60, and 4L60e are essentially all the same transmission just the 4L60E is electronically controlled, and in 91 GM had unified their bellhousings and only had the single overdrive transmission, in 90 I believe you could still get cars with the 2004r, and with some early models you had to watch which engine it came off as Olds had a different bolt pattern for the bell housing then other gm cars.

Learned something new. At least it's not computer controlled. I had one hell of a time with a 91 Chrysler control module.
