| Hey all! Will an LT1 engine bolt up to an older wagon with the 305? (91-93 I think) Transmission & motor mounts? Wiring harness? Etc… Thanks | |

| It depends on what generation LT1 you are referring to. You can bolt up a 94-96 LT1, but you need to do a lot of other things to make it work. Later versions take more work. It also depends on the configuration of the intake, and accessories you want to keep/change. You may need a compatible trans, and that opens another can of worms. There are some threads on engine swaps on impalassforum.com. | |

| Thanks a lot for the reply Fred. I assumed that stuff like accessories would be an issue, but I feel those are easily dealt with, compared to the engine, not bolting to the transmission, and the wiring harness not just plugging in.. The donor engine is from a 95 caprice classic, the recipient is a 91 caprice. Thoughts?

| You need all components related to the engine and transmission. I do not know if the trans crossmember will bolt up to the trans, but if it does, you need to make provision for the left exhaust pipe. If not you will have to adapt the 95 crossmember to the 91 frame. You also need ALL of the heat shields for the left side exhaust. Basically all of the parts from under the hood, and you need to adapt the wiring that goes through the firewall to connect with the interior wiring. The 91 computer can be removed. The trans has a signal for the 95 computer that is different from the one in the 91, so you have to figure out how to hook up the speedometer and cruise control. The LT1 does not have the linkage to operate a 700R4, but it will work with the 4L60e that comes with the LT1. If you figure out the wiring at the firewall it should not be crazy difficult. | |

| Why not just put a GM crate 350 in. @ year warranty and everything should just bolt in | |

| Ugh, not a fan of troubleshooting-configuring wiring. It’s probably safe to assume that a 95 engine will seamlessly swap into another 95 model? | |

| I know, sorry for the confusion. I also have another 95 wagon project that might need a swap as well. | |

| All '94-96 LT1s will swap into a '95 pretty easily. If you get a '96, you'll need to swap the knock sensors and you can remove the EVAP sensor from the top of the intake manifold. I would delete the AIR pump and associated fittings regardless of model. | |
