PostSubject: My good fortune for a change   My good fortune for a change Icon_minitimeMon Sep 06, 2010 10:03 pm

So over on the ISSF forum, I had three great deals show up at the same time.
Set of 17 inch rims - which I bought and at some point will be able to buy tires for (brand new TSWs)
Grey center console with shifter for cheap $$. - deal fell through when shipping questions went unanswered and seller only had a dozen posts (I was gun shy).
Set of Charcoal bonnies front and rear <- traded straight up for a set of grey leather RMS seats I've had for 1.5 years).

So I drove about 140 miles to make the seat trade which came off without a hitch (or a speeding ticket Smile ). Orange93 from the other forum was great to deal with and we are both real happy.

On the way home I was more or less going by the JY so I stopped in as Stingroo scored a Blazer console last month. I've been goin to this yard for 3 years and NEVER found a complete unbroken blazer console so I figured I'd try my luck. ALso last couple visits there were no wagons.

So......I go in and bam in the first GM row theres a blazer with a no-shift center console in the same charcoal as the seats in the back out in my wagon!! Holy smokes, it's my day wheeee! All that is missing is the rubber cup holder insert (always missing).
It's dirty with dried up soda, etc, but for 15 bucks no complaints!!!

Next up here is a 93 Woody Caprice with tan interior. It doesn't offer me much aside from the turn signal relay I need as it's picked over, rear glass shattered (did take one glass strut that was good) and tails are both cracked.

On down the next row and there two more no wood TBI wagons, a white 93 with posi and L05 and the posi is still in it.....no time to pull a whole rear and no help with me....bummer, 3.23s in it too (working next 6 days so I missed on that one).
It has a good drivers tail and I have to pull the tailgate cover to get to the latch to drop the gate, so I take the cover too as it's grey and better than the one in Ruby. As a very special bonus it has a no defog rear glass that some thoughtfully removed with out breaking and it's leaning on the side of the car. minor JY scratches but since Stingroo nabbed my secondary backup glass and this was already ready to travel I threw it in the wheel barrow too!

Next up a factory black 91 Caprice wagon (only second black caprice Wagon I ever saw (first was at WF). It's beat up but has a one good strut so I have a pair now. diff gone outta that one too. Rear glass still locked so I left it alone as both tails were broken.

Saw a LT1 RMS that had been picked over and at that point the wheel barrow was pretty full and my wallet not so much so I called it a day and headed out and it was about 98 degrees with 95% humidity.

75 bucks and BIG smiles especially with the console score, cleaned it up with soap and water but still needs a bit of love and has a couple of cigarette burns on it Sad but figure I can sand those down and bondo it up then dye it, probably go with the grey to match the rest of the interior and just leave the seats dark or maybe go with a two tone interior in black and grey as the black wagon had black accents on the interior and it looked pretty good.

Sounds like a good day of scavenging! LMK if you need any interior stuff out of a charcoal gray blazer, a friend of mine has one at my work he is parting out, most of it is still there.

Why couldn't that be at my JY? Sad

Dude whoa! I didn't see a single wagon at all when I went, and only one 9C1 Caprice.

We should hold a console install/dye party when I get down for Christmas! I was thinking about selling mine, but the more I think about it, the cooler I think it would be to just use it.

those dark bonnies look sweet with the grey. think I might do the AC vents ala OCC black and a few other trim pieces to tie it all together., but it's all going in my my boy's wagon so he'll have the fun of figuring it all out, he's pretty psyched about it, loves the bonnies.

I love yarding. Nice finds. It's "almost" the time of the year I can hit the yards again in Texas without getting heat stroke. About two more weeks!
