Hey all. I think finding an OEM Optispark is all but impossible. Can anyone suggest a good aftermarket replacement? Not looking for performance necessarily, just reliability. Thanks

Caps and rotors are available aftermarket. Other than pickup failure, which sets a Powertrain Code, there is really not a lot to fail.

My ignition system is currently working just fine. I’m thinking more of a preventative tuneup. So, replacing the cap and rotors satisfies that?

If there are no discernable issues with your ignition system, it really does not require a "tune up". Unless your coolant is due for a change, or your water pump seal is leaking, there is no need for disassembly.

Actually Rev, I have a lil coolant showing on the shaft of the harmonic balancer. So, it looks like the water pump is starting to fail. Do you think replacing the cap and rotor while the pump is off is prudent?

If your not having any problems, don't go looking for them, leave them alone. Are you sure it's the waterpump seal? I would make sure as there are other things it could be.

You can see the waterpump seal from under the car. It can be moist, but actual dripping is a bad sign. If you take the waterpump off for replacement, replacing the opti cap and rotor would be a good idea.

Agreed. Be careful when trying to replace the cap and rotor -- that was the plan for my 1996 Fleetwood (which I recently sold) at the time, but the OptiSpark did not cooperate so I ended up needing a new one. The water pump was original and the car had close to 100k miles, so I took the opportunity to replace the pump as well as a precaution.
