| I'm sure you all have favorite roads where you live, and I'd love to hear about them! If any of you guys are ever in Central Texas and want to drive some awesome roads, the area around Fredericksburg and Kerrville is outstanding. All the Texas hill country is good, but these places stand out. All are within and hour or two of Austin or San Antonio, and one of the main reason I love it here, and also one of the main reasons my friend opened Street Dreams in that area. Also the German Food, Tex-Mex and BBQ is SO good around these areas. There is little traffic or police patrolling outside of the small towns. Tons of motorcycles and neat cars to see in the spring and the fall. Awesome "rollercoaster" roads with trists, turns, dips, and great "wide open spaces" views. It's just so fun to drive or ride them if you have a bike. I've got an old Yamaha Seca 750 and my wife rides a Honda Magna 750, and we put them on the trailer in the spring and fall, drive to Kerrville about two hours from Austin and hit the hills for a weekend. In the past we've towed with the Burb, but this fall I'm going to use the Roadmaster wagon so I can do some roads in "The Beast" too. There is a giant dome of granite you can hike up called Enchanted Rock just north of Fredericksburg...and man you can see forever from the top. Luckenbach, made famous by the country song, is a neat place to have a beer and sit under the oak trees. Usually someone is there with a guitar. Also neat is Texas Stonehenge. Yes, ranchers in Texas get bored too. ; ) The best roads are called "The Three Sisters"or "The Twisted Sisters" south and west of Kerrville. Awesome. Just great roads to ride or drive. I drove them last spring in my Firebird convertible and it was heaven. I miss that car! Check out these links below, and please share good roads near you. I love road trips and taking the long way home! -Mike http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/the3s.htmlhttp://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthWest/TX/TX_3.shtmlhttp://www.luckenbachtexas.com/html/history.htmlhttp://www.austinexplorer.com/Locations/ShowLocation.aspx?LocationID=1712http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/7819 | |

| Route 302. Have to remember that one if I get some away time in the northeast.
My motorcycle buddy in New Jersey wants us to go ride Vermont. Says it's awesome.
How about some good drives in Central/Eastern PA? I work for Dell and my region is from Harrisburg to Allentown and up north to Williamsport, with one account way northeast in Scranton (why??).
I go on business visits up there...and try to plan them around Carlisle or Hershey events, but seem to always end up there in Febuaury and freezing my tail off!! Ha!
Still would like reccomendations....even though I'm usually in a rental Rabbit or Cobalt, which seems to be all they rent at the Harrisburg airport. ; )

| I rented an Olds Intrigue and drove Hwy 1 from San Francisco to LA on my honeymoon in 2000. Great drive, gorgeous views of the ocean, big trees, open spaces, just awesome. Only issue was there were lots of motor homes and trailers so lots of the trip was slow...but that was ok, the view was worth it.
In typical women style my newly-married wife was sick the entire trip, ha! I spent the trip going "look, sea lions!, look at the cliffs!, look at the ocean!" She spent the trip reclined in the passenger seat asleep.
Still a great trip and one of the most gorgeous drives I've done. ; ) | |

| Great pics, thanks for sharing. Just a few minutes from my home. US 211 between I-81 and US-29. Goes over the blue ridge mountains, twice. Lots of fun curvy twisty-ness. | |

| Nice area. Whenever I drive from Texas to PA or Jersey I go right up I-81. Really pretty up there! | |

| Route 1 scenery is great (in places). It sucks because of the big changes in speed limits as you wander into towns... | |

| Hwy 41 in eastern NC during the remnants of a tropical storm. They're not kidding when they put up the high water signs. RMW's make a nice bow wave at 60 mph when they hit said water. For added excitement, see how long it takes to get both ends of the car back into the same lane. Ask me how I know.
