I parked our F250 next to a Smart once. God help the Smart driver if they ever get hit by one.

| Always thought that the Smart had some awkward dimensions but your pics just showed how UGLY that little bastard is.One wagon is about the same length as 2 Smart cars parked bumper to bumper.Never understood why someone would pay all that money for a Smart when the same money will buy a much larger and just as economical car.I guess it boils down to what you want to be seen driving versus a rational purchase of a much more functional automobile. | At first I thought you spotted a Sunbeam Tiger and snapped a few pics...LOL
Most Smart drivers are just trying to save the planet...They're PC to the max...I'll keep my politics off of the forum but politics are what killed the great American car (Body on frame, RWD,V8) . We all drive a vehicle that is more funtional, and safe, and loads more comfortable than any "smartcar".
I've driven a couple, I felt like I was in an enclosed go cart. Room for 2 people & that's pretty much it. If I lived in a retirement community, I guess it would be cooler than the neighbours golf cart...just my 2cts

| Having just got back from a college campus and not being able to find hardly a SINGLE spot to park the wagon, I can see why having one of these cars would be useful - to park it. Period. That's it. That's the only smart feature. | |

| I never have trouble finding a spot for the wagon on campus. I'm also the only person they don't care if I take two spots. LOL |

| Jon that Car and Driver article is priceless. ; ) Am going to send it to Jill, the girl who owns the yellow Smart.
Her husband is an Austin Firefighter. I told her she needs to take a pic of the Smart next to a fire truck. It'll really look like a flyspeck!

| Hey Lou you're right on the money about these being a "PC" purchase. Austin is the San Francisco of Texas. PC to the max.
The parking lot at work is full of little Prius-type spuds and the like. I catch hell for all my big old cars...but I never have trouble finding them in the parking lot at the end of the day. ; )

| God Belss America!! I believe any one can drive whatever they want,.... but, writing anything on someone elses car, in dirt or not, is just not cool... When we had the Hummer franchise @ work they threw bird seed on the roofs of trucks so they'd pek chips in the paint and painted stuff on the trucks and the building...I guess poisioning birds damaging someone elses property is an acceptable form of protest in some circles. | |

| At least it's parked straight Looks like Dell is one of those places that believe in small parking spots to discourage people from driving big cars I alsmost got us kicked out of Ronald McDonald house the first time we stayed when Jordan was in the hospital. They have those little bitty parking spots and the first morning we were there 9after VERY little sleep) a woman started giving me grief about how my car was parked. I went off on her and it turned out she was the director... Jon | |

| Jon I try to park by Suburbans and Silverado's so my car normally doesn't appear to be sticking out so much. ; )
The only Smart Car dealer in Central Texas is here in Round Rock, and the ugly little spuds are all over this town. Greenies love them, even though they do not get nearly the mileage they look like they should get.
We've got an "all natural organic" pizza place called "Promise Pizza" and all their delivery cars are white and green Smarts.
I just don't see the draw of driving a car shaped like my son's baby shoes.....

| Oh and the yellow Smart next to my old Caprice at the start of this post was traded in on a Prius recently. Jill kept it less than a year. It was in the shop for warranty issues a lot, and the dealer had to order parts from overseas. She said there was always a light on or a part breaking off. So much for Mercedes quality!
She loves her new Prius, says it gets tons better mileage, has a lot more room, is a lot quieter, and so far nothing has broken. Not that I'm pitching a Prius, I think they also look like rolling footwear...... ; )
