| Was it an option in caprice wagons? If so how do you know if you have it? Thanks -Josh | |

| 2 ways, first is AOU on the SPID label located on the passenger side tail jamb.
Second (sometimes the SPID is missing) is to pull the drivers side cargo panel and look behind. If there is a big black box with a loose wire hanging off of it, you have keyless.....

Pretty sure my '93 manual talks about the keyless option. Or I could just be off my rocker.

| Same with the LT1 Caprices (wagons), I think. Keyless not available. | |

| How involved would it be to install on a Caprice wagon? The only thing I like about the wife's 08 Malibu is the keyless entry. | |

Sorry. I saw Caprice and sorta forgot they cover both in the manual. But this leads me to wonder why if it was available in the sedan that they couldn't do it in the wagon. My '92 RMW had keyless, so its not as if you can't put it in a wagon...

| You can buy aftermarket keyless entry/remote start for not too much installed.
Installing a factory one would require quite a bit of wiring.

| Yeah, go aftermarket, for sure. It's cheap enough. | |

| You would have to install the wiring from a RMW or OCC, and that would include the cross car harness, or tease out the additional wires. If I wanted to install a remote, I would go with an aftermarket system. It would take less effort, and probably be more reliable than OEM. | |

| If I went after market I would install it myself that is for sure. One of the first things I did to my wagon was remove an old car alarm system from it. Talk about a rats nest of half ass wiring. I cannot believe people pay shops for that kind of "work" to be done.
Proper wire connections? Hell no, just twist em together and lay them around that metal there.

| That resembles a DYI job. Even an installation shop would not so such a poor job. | |

He stated that they left the twisted ends bare and loose in the neighbohood of metal parts. He did not state that there were wire nuts and electrical tape. There is nothing wrong with wire nuts and electrical tape.

| Well i have always hated when people use wire nuts. In my opinion wire nuts are for houses. Best way to install wiring is twisted together then soldiered with heat shrink over the top. -Josh | |

| This job consisted of removing a piece of insulation from the factory wire and twisting the alarm wire around that. Some of them had tape, some didn't. Aside from that it looked like a pro shop job. The harnesses were supported, tied back. The valet switch was mounted and of course the little red light was installed through the lower dash trim. It left a nice hole when removed.
Dubs is right, wire nuts belong on solid wires in your house.

| I have it all in my wagon.
My remote controls the doors locks, windows, remote starts, pops the rear hatch and controls the air ride.
Took me less than 2 hours to install and works like a champ. I have less than $100.00 in everything I think.
