I do not heart front wheel drive. Wink Here's a cut-n-paste from my CL ad...

Hello,

I am selling my 97 Riv. I love the car, but it's time to thin the herd. I just have too many cars! It's that beautiful Calypso green/blue pearl with a grey leather interior. It has the killer 3.8 liter SUPERCHARGED V6 and 4 speed automatic transmission. 188K miles. Loaded, power everything, cruise control, dual zone climate control, steering wheel radio/heat controls and keyless entry. Tinted windows. Driven Daily. Has 4 studded snows in it right now on black GTP wheels. Looks great. New water pump, steering rack, tie rods, alignment, tensioner, belt, battery, Alpine speakers, chrome lugnuts, wipers and more.

She's a good 20 footer, but does have a scuff on the lower passenger door, and behind the driver's rear wheel from the previous owner. Has knicks and dings and scratches that you would expect to see on daily driven 14 year old car. Interior is a 7 out of 10, with some major wear on the driver's seat, but still very comfortable! Also needs the passenger door handle fixed as is can only be opened from the inside. It really is a pretty car!

Runs and drives nice. Fast! Great in the snow, too! Heat is nice and hot and the AC blows cold. It gets good mileage, too, if you stay off the boost. Close to 30mpg on the highway!

Is it perfect? No. It needs that door handle fixed. And also needs a front wheel bearing. Doesn't affect the way the car drives, but it is starting to make noise and should be replaced.

Considering the book value of the car is over 4 grand, with the few minor fixes it needs, I am asking $2500 or best offer. Would like to sell before the next snow, as I'm tired of moving all these cars around in my driveway! Smile

So, $2500 or best offer.

Can include a set of 4 non-matching all season tires for the summer, too.

Thanks for looking!

Somethings wrong here. You didn't finish fixing it up first!!! I thought for sure it was the Caddy on the block....

I just saw one of these today and thought it was pretty sexy aside from the 26's it was rolling on. Good luck on the sale.

Isn't it easier to find the green car in the snow though????

I understand completely, my 1973 Granville 'vert was a similar story, except I loved the car.
bought for 1500 from a stripper, kept it about 9 months (but was out of the country for 3 of them) and sold it for 1100. I put a waterpump on it, but it was a NY car and had serious rot underneath, was sucking oil through the PCV valve into the air cleaner, and was going to need a new top and tires really soon. Had to cut the strings and walk away.

Interestingly enough though, less than a week after I sold it, the police showed up wanting to know why my car had been used in an armed robbery. I furnished them with the buyers info....and never heard about it again.

LOL. Didn't find anything else. No prospects. Think I'm just gonna concentrate on the wagon. May look for a cheap beater Scoobie for good mileage in the winter though... Truck is killing me with the 9-10mpg with the winter gas!

Thanks for the suggestions, Mike. That 96 roadie is actually from Fred a few years ago, and is a forum member's, if it's the one I'm thinking of. And funny, that 79 is right in my town, but I've never seen it before. Not a fan of boxy 4 doors or wagons though... That 442? No idea. And NO FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, ever again. BOO! FAIL! BOO!!!

I know Crovo will share his, but I'm pretty sure I hold the ALL TIME record.

We were traveling down a backroad one early summer afternoon when I passed a house with one of them little 49cc motorcycles out front with a spray bombed plywood sign leaning on a tree behind it that said $100. At the time, they were being sold new everywhere for $250 -$299 so I knew it was a good deal.

I whipped in there having the following exchange with my bride:

Her: What the heck are you doing?

I need that bike.

Her: You don't even have $100. You don't even have HALF.

I'm not going to pay $100. You should know that.

Her: NEED? Really.

Yea. Need. It looks like fun.

Her: It doesn't even come up to your SHIN. You're an idiot.

I'm gonna ride wheelies.

Her: I think that's a great idea. Please wear a helmet.

I go - Seriously, I'm going to try to make a couple bucks on it at home since we have alot more traffic.

Her: Who'd want to buy THAT?

me: Well, so far ME and hopefully I'll find the other guy who'd also want it.

So it turns out that it was a HS kid with a bunch of friends over and they were all BSing in the garage - so they all walked over as soon as I pulled in. They'd JUST put it out there since they were mad they couldn't get it to run after it had been sitting since the previous fall, when he'd bought it new for $250.

Anyway, within a minute, I'd beat him down to $45 - since it was all I had, handed him the money, and had sent him inside to get me the owners manual, leaving me outside with about 5 of his buddies while I loaded it up. As the kid was walking into his house, a truck and trailer pulled up to the curb, which I immediately figured was just another one of his friends that'd come over to hang out.

I was parked at the very end of the driveway, and as I opened the back doors of the burb to put it in there, the guy pulling the utility trailer jumped out and we had the following exchange:

Him: "You just buy that?"

yea

DAMN! That was a good deal. I was gonna grab it for my kid. You were the car behind me and I saw you pull in, but it took me too long to get this trailer turned around. You wanna sell it?

I go - Actually yea. I kinda spent money I didn't have on it and my wife isn't real impressed. Give me $90 and it's yours.

He whipped out $90 and I put it into his trailer and closed the doors on my truck - all right in front of the sellers friends. Within SECONDS the seller ran out of the house and handed me the owners manual, which I in turn handed directly to the new owner as I shook his hand and said, "Here ya go, buddy. Have a good one."

EVERY kid standing there had their jaw on the ground as I hopped into the truck with a smile and a wave and again said, "Have a good one!".

I get in the truck and she goes, "Was there room for it back there?"

I tried to hold off from laughing as I handed her the money and tried to tell her that I'd decided to just get my money back - but I couldn't. I didn't even make it out of the driveway before my laughter snapped his friends out of their stupor and they all started laughing hysterically too, except of course for the seller who was still in a daze - slapping his friends acrossed the shoulders and demanding "What just happened?! WTF is so funny?! Who's the guy with the trailer?! "

So while I know it wasn't a CAR, it was motorized - and almost a vehicle - and I doubled my money on it in well under 20 seconds.

That count?

I think it's hilarious how Bewber makes his gracious and charming bride sound like a wife from a James Thurber story.

this doesn't even compare but maybe I'll share anyway:

I was in the Tampa area parting out a 92 RMW that was sans driveline (200K on cluster).
I sold the drivers door off it to a forum member for $25 BEFORE I paid the guy at the garage the $150 to strip it. He pulled in grabbed my sockets and had it off and loaded in his wagon in about 5 minutes. and pulled out leaving me with some green to defray the cost of my adventure Smile

then there was the Toyota I traded for a wind up alarm clock from one roommate and sold it to the other roommate for $100. Smile but there was about a week in there and the roomie #1 was PISSED.

New here and just saw the thread. That car would have made a kick butt car for a pulley swap and tune. Those 3800 SC engines are no joke. I know I just sold a 99 GTP with only 101,000 miles on it. There are some guys in my area that build the crap out of 3800's. They put them in Fiero's and ditch the Super Chargers in favor of Turbos from a Cummings Diesel. One of the guys has his car running in the low 10's in the 1/4 mile.
