| i wonder if you could get one of the kits to fit wagon. if so i would just redrill rear axles to the 5x 4 3/4 bolt pattern. would have a better choice of wheels any way with the smaller bolt pattern | |

| Nick, are you trying to tell us you did something like this six years ago?.
I have no recollection of it.
I think what many would like to see is a bolt on kit not requiring us to go out and buy bigger wheels to fit around the calipers. I have 16's on. no kit that I know of would help me.
Did 94-96 Impalas have disc brakes?

| Yes, the SS (and the 94-6 9C1 got four wheel discs). For your small 16s, the only option is going to a thicker front rotor. You could mount up the 71-76 B body spindle and rotor, or go with Bill Harper's custom setup. The diameter of both is the same as the 91-96 rotor, but the rotor itself is thicker. Note that with the 71-76 you will lose ABS. | |

| Jay, I don't mind losing the ABS function. I don't drive it in the winter where it might be more critical. I'm about to lose it anyway as I'll be having my Differential changed over to a Posi and 3.42:1 gears.
I'd like to get Discs on the rear, But I can't recall seeing a set up that didn't force going to 17' or larger wheels, as there were all Corvette parts oriented.
Did I miss something? Can I keep 16' AND have rear Discs Brakes?
Relevant links would be most helpful,
Thanks, Dave | |

| people still run 15 and 16" rubber?? well you wanna stop you need bigger rubber end of story, I,ve built 4 sets of 13" front brakes for myself and others,. same thing joel did,. but with a cut/re-drilled c5 front rotor and c3 fixed 4 piston calipers,. once you,ve had a set the stock brakes will scare you,. blue car has c5 front and rear,.

| You can have 15" wheels and rear disc brakes. Remember, the stock 9C1 wheel was 15", and the car used the same brakes as the SS.
I have to say, I'm with Nick. Time to step up the rolling stock. Go with some nice 18s, and 13-14" rotors on the brakes. Rides fine, handles better than you could possibly imagine.

| Not on Shammoo.
Part of the heritage of that car are those Boyd Coddington Wheels. They've been a part of that car since 1993 and will stay there. That why I need something to work with 16's.
That aside, new wheels and tires would be looking at a $ Grand easy. I've got less than 5K miles on the tires. That money is going for a posi and 3:42's. Maybe this week.

| Dave please keep the Boyds but please dont give up your ABS as you it more often than you realize.Although you have modified it internally leave the outside alone. You have worked too hard to document the cars history which obviously is important to you.Shammoo was built with those wheels and thay should stay on it.There are still decent tires available for 15" rims and you can somehow integrate disc brakes from the SS or maybe a C3 series Vette which were still using 15" wheels.Besides if you did replace the Coddington wheels Boyd would probably haunt you for changing his wheels. Those wheels have been on your wagon for 18 years now so why change now? Why are you losing ABS? Can't you get a reluctor for 3.42's? | |

| i would like to get bigger brakes on the front and thought that with the kit costing $400.00 then try to get rotors and calipers cheap. nick what did it run you for the 13" setup? i think i would go with a 5x 4 3/4 bolt pattern and drill the rear axles to match that way when i need new rotors i could just get a set without redrilling them. when i was looking at brake kits on other forum they seam to be big$$ or confusing on what people did to make it work | |

| The interior of the car was made over three times already before I got to it. Externally, other than a few stickers, it's still the same. It was different for awhile with an Impala grill, But I returned it to Shammoo's custom billet grill.
I agree with Nick's comment about the need to stop well, not just accelerate. Just need an option to fit the 16" Coddington Tomahawk wheels.
Rh96ss, yes there is a3:42 reluctor available if I had a new pinion and ring gear. I have a used posi and gear set. Low miles but no reluctor provision. I understand your point though. It's well taken.

| Cant you get the pinion reground to fit the reluctor ring onto its shaft or not?Just a thought.Considering the kind of driving most of us do, a proper performing rear drum with aggressive shoes equipped with abs will stop just as fast as any disc brake set-up but will fade away much faster. How many of us drive that fast for long periods of time and only US owners can answer.European owners have the autobahn and thusly have a need for 4 wheel disc brakes.Just being realistic here guys! source out c3 calipers,. c5 rotors,. i doubt i'll ever have to buy another set,,. they just don't get stressed in every day driving,.pushing a drill thru the rotors is easy,. i think i have less than $1200 for front and back,. | |

| Bob Shirley makes a reluctor to go on non-reluctor gear sets.
If you want ultimate stopping with those sized wheels, look into Nascar brakes. They fit 15" wheels. There are shops in the Southeast that specialize in used race parts.
