| Subject: Paint On Waterproofing For Under Roof? Fri Jul 22, 2011 11:21 am | |
| I've recently developed the trickling water drip from the handrails in my 1996 RMW. I'm fairly certain it's the roof rack causing this. I also have to redo my headliner, so I figured I could just knock it all out in one shot.
Is there something I can apply via a paintbrush to seal the entire interior side of the roof after I fix the leaking fasteners? Has anybody here tried this or something similar?

| I think you need to remove the roof rack and seal the screws. I just did it in my Caprice Wagon, not a bad job at all, maybe 6 screws. Some guys have had trouble with rusty screws. I sealed them with clear tube silicon. Just sealing on the bottom, I don't think will do it. Maybe both. Here is a great brushable clear silicon, that I have used for 30 years. It is a great product and will stop leaks dead in their tracks. http://www.geocelusa.com/php/retail/product.php?prdb_product_id=26It's about $16 a quart. Go to the website and you can find dealers. Good Luck Tom C. | |

| I had my headliner replaced. While it was out I did exactly what you are doing and what Tom did. I used http://raybuck.com/i-68311-rusfre-black-innerpanel-rustproofing.htmlRusfre' inner panel rust proofing. Worked great!!! Used a spray bottle and got it in "A', "B", "C" & "D" pillars. Used 30 year silicone on every screw and cleaned up under the rack. Good luck..... Tim | |
