| Tried to buy a pair and they never materialized. This was months ago, so thought I'd throw this out before sending the belts off to Snnake-Oyl for re-webbing. Anyone have a clean, with non-fuzzed webbing, set of tan front belts & retractors..driver & passenger? I do not need the center belt set.
Appreciate you reading and hope to hear something on this.

| If you are not in a hurry, I can rip the belts from my parts car......The interior is like new in it, so I "Assume" the seat belts are too......... Let me know if you are interrested, and I can look into their condition and rip them out in a few days. if you are in a hurry, I don't have time right now to get them out and shipped to you.........(just being honest). Parts car is a 96 RMW with common tan leather interior. | |

| PM sent to Deadmanonduty...please reply via email if you have received. Fred, Thank you for the offer. I am looking for the complete assemblies to either use as replacements or to put in while I have the original set re-webbed. As an aside for those wanting to remove the belts, it requires a T-40 male Torx and I'd suggest 1/2 inch drive. I ended up with an impact grade piece as the regular metal T-40 simply sheared off the teeth in the hard bolts GM used. The bolts have been in place since production and like their home! I suggest using a breaker bar and not an impact wrench though. Here is the Ssnake-Oyl link for re-webbing service, in case anyone is interested...they restored a set of 1964 Pontiac belts for my Bonneville coupe years ago. The results were better than NOS. I received a discount for the perfect date coded labels on the original set. I'm not a "number matching" guy so it did not matter to me. You'd have to undo the belts to see those labels anyway! http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=Ssnake-Oyl&Category_Code=RSRichard Snipes 4501 Safari in Jax, FL10/27/2011 Should be 3/8" drive...and a T-50. | The correct Torx bit is a T50. A 1/2 inch breaker bar is the best way to remove the bolts, because it gives you enough leverage so that they come out easily. Using a smaller Torx bit will either break the bit or round off the socket. I have used a T50 on every year, and model of the B-bodies. | |

| Sorry, but you both are wrong.
T47 is the correct socket for the GM seatbelt-to-floorpan bolts.
A T50 doesn't give full engagement into the bolt socket.
That is why you see that size sold seperately in the blister packs.

| Wahoo, well that certainly explains a lot. Thanks for the additional info. I will check it out. Good for GM to use a proprietary size. This is how we learn and yes, I now remember it is not a T-40... need more coffee... Richard Snipes 4501 Safari in Jax, FL | |

| I always get full engagement in the socket with a T50. It always works. T47s will break because they are not tight enough in the socket. Sometimes the socket has corrosion in it, but the T50 will go in with a little tap. If the T50 goes in, it is the correct one.
All sizes are sold seperately at the parts store.
I say you are wrong Jay, and the T50 is the right tool. | |

| I sized the internal Torx and the bolt last night. Fred is correct. It is the T-50. If I can figure out how to post photos, perhaps I will show the fitment later.
Thanks for the interest.

| I agree JaySS must be wrong. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=2519&group_ID=11453&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog Description: For use on GM door strikers and seat belt bolts.I mean Snap-On Tool the leading Manufacturer to automotive tools since the 1920’s are just kidding us all when they advertise this as being a GM Style. I'm sure there is litigation involved regarding trade-mark infringement. But let's get real guys we've all used a hammer to coax a tool to work... Right!!! I see hammers everywhere in auto shops. I guess I should just throw my T47 out. That's right the one that I bought specifically when I installed the roll cage in my SS 7 years ago and up-dated my 95 to 96 belts merely because I like the plastic covers. When all I needed was to tap it to make it fit. Richard you’re in the market for "set of tan front belts & retractors. Driver & passenger?" This is correct? You may now continue with today’s regular scheduled program... Chris | |

| Everyone, Attention, please...if a T-47 works for you, then use it. If a T-50 works for you, then use it. As long as the bolt and be removed AND reused I'd probably call it good. My post was not to start a competition of which Torx piece to use. I located the belts, so thread closed as far as I am concerned. Thanks to all who contributed. If anyone wants to pursue the Torx issue further then perhaps opening another thread somewhere else would be more appropriate. "Suggestions Improvements and Comments" may be the place where we can share and discuss what works, bearing in mind that there are always going to be differences. Have a great weekend! | Thanks to Brent for quickly shipping the belts. I discovered there is a difference between the Base RMW seatbelts vs. my Limited seatbelts. On the limited the male ends are bright metal to match the buckle. There are a host of differences between the trim levels besides the obvious seating surfaces, it seems. The more I do with this wagon the more I learn.
And...for our Torx discussion, the Sunex set I ordered arrived yesterday as well. I was able to test fit the T-47 and the T-50 into the bolts Brent sent with the belts as well as the ones in my wagon. The T-47 is loose and wobbly and the T-50 is almost too tight but will fit although it does not bottom out. About all this tells me is the perfect bolt removal Torx is a T-48 or T-49, neither of which exists, so use what you will.
Thread closed...
