| Sweet! I know I'm far away, but I think I'm going to go this year. I really wanted to go last year, but the show fell on Mom's birthday. After going to WF-VA in October, I really got to liking the idea of regional wagon shows, as you get to see a whole new bunch of wagons and meet other forum people you don't normally see at WF-NY. | |

| You pay at the gate. I believe it's $30 per car.
It's so worth the trip. Get a hotel, you can't see everything in one day. I tried last year and failed miserably, but I can say I easily saw 600+ cars. |

| Here is the deal as of last year, which may have changed a little as this year it's now called the Spring Turkey RUn vs. the Spring Car show.
Anyway for the last 3 years (as long as I have been going), there is the maing Daytona Beach Car show that you pay for $25 advance, or 30 at the gate). The main car show people get all that money.
Then inside the show, GoFaSST & SoFaSST (Orlando and South FL Impala clubs) put on a show within the show. They spend a bunch of money to get a tent, tables, chairs, have a judged show for B-bodies, snacks, drinks, and a killer raffle. There is an entry fee for that as well that the clubs collect to offset the above mentioned items. I'm not privy to the financials of the event, but was told they had a rough time covering all the expenses last year. THat means we need more B-bodies!!
Once the holidays are over, I'll be getting with the president of SoFasst to find out what we can do to help. Last year was the first year the wagons outnumbered the sedans. The first year I went it was 70 cars and about 10 wagons. Last year it was about 40 cars with just over half being wagons.
It is a 3 day show, with Saturday being the only day of the B-body event. I encourage everyone to go at least two days. One to walk the rest of the show (which will take you a whole day), and one to hang with you automotive brothers (Saturday).
More details to follow...

| Sprocket You need to get with Bob Borchers of GofaSSt after the first of the year, along with the Daytona Beach Street Rods. MAJOR changes (club parking and such) have happened since control of the car show side of this show has happened. GofaSSt has no President at this time, (from what Bob told me a few weeks back) and they usually paid most (if not all in the past) for the tents and such. I hope it can continue, but it may have to be scaled back from previous years........

| From what I have seen/read, clubs are still welcome. I will be getting with ImpalaSSdude (Tim) after the holidays to start talking about it. The Impala guys have been using the Holiday INN for the past several years. Once we start firming up, we can look at getting a block somewhere else, (like the Jameson). I did like the fact they let the Cougar crowd have their own cookout. (we may have to encroach on them this year ha ha ha).
More details coming soon......

| Looks like wagons may be the dominant force, no Gofasst show:
GOFASSTers, GOFASST is not planning to host a Spring Daytona Car Show this year. As you know, no one has stepped up to be President of GOFASST during this past year. I have continued to send GOFASST updates on members needed parts and cars for sale, etc., but that has been the extent of GOFASST activity. For that reason, GOFASST will not collect dues for 2012. I've talked to Terry Rogers and he agrees with this course of action. We will still try to reserve a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Daytona Beach for the Spring Turkey Run on March 30-31 and April 1st for those planning to attend. You'll be notified via email when that happens. Bob Borchers

More details to follow... I am a member of GoFaSSt, and just received an e-mail from Bob Borcher, the ex-pres of this club. Since his resignation, due to health issues, no one has stepped in to take his place as Pres. So-o-o, their sponsorship of the show at Daytona is cancelled, and the club is in limbo, until someone steps up and volunteers to become Pres. Dues for 2012 have been suspended until this happens, per Bob & Terry.

| I have a call into the Show people for info about reserving an area for our 'club'. I spoke with the pres of SOFASST, and he was under the impression that it was happening albeit without raffles/sponsors/vendors until the email above was sent out. He has only heard from a couple of the guys and everybody is currently waffling about what to do. So, I guess it's up to us to make this happen. In a worse case scenerio, we can all meet that morning in the parking lot like last year and drive in together and claim a chunk of the field hopefully close to where we were last year (good location) and put some pop up tents up etc. We had a great turn out last year and this will be my fourth year with each year seeing more wagons show up (not that I'm against any B/D bodies coming, more the merrier) All that said, we need to get started on looking for a hotel so we can do an after show cookout (like the Cougar club did last year).... Things we need to get done fairly quickly. 1. Contact show about getting club space - done by me. 2. Contact hotels to see about a block of rooms - ?? 3. Get a count of who is in for sure so we can garantee a block of rooms (usually a better rate that way) - thread started 4. Discuss how we can organize this. - TBA This only falls apart if we let it. Those who were there last year know what a good event this will be. Yes, last year I rode on the coat tails of GOFASST, this year we are the lead, time to step it up...... starting another thread for head count | |

| Good luck Sprocket. I posted up the email I received to get the word out and maybe to get the ball rolling. I have supported GOFASST by attending with multiple cars to the event over the last 7 years. This year I do not know if I will make it at all due to starting long term training in MIA on Mar 5 for about 5-6 weeks. I wish I could do more but my schedule prevents that.
Also investigate the statement on the registration site: FOR 2012 THE SPRING TURKEY RUN WILL ACCEPT: Street Rods, Customs, Antiques & Muscle Cars from 1979 and before. All MUSTANGS • CORVETTES • CAMAROS • PROWLERS • VIPERS • CHARGERS/CHALLENGERS, FOREIGN & DOMESTIC EXOTICS
WE WILL ALSO ACCEPT (PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY): CARS FROM 1980 UP, IF THE CAR HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY CUSTOMIZED. YOU MUST SEND PHOTOS WITH YOUR PRE-REGISTRATION FOR APPROVAL
The Daytona Beach Street Rods does it’s best to keep “grocery getters” from participating in the Car Show. When you present your car at the show entry gates, the gate crew will determine your eligibility. If you have pre-registered a car that is not eligible for admission, the gate personnel will refund your entry fee at that time.

How hard is it to get someone to steer the ship in a car club for Pete's sake? You obviously have never had to set-up or run an event as big as the annual Daytona show, make all the arrangements, get all the "ducks-in-a-row, or do other things like that! Bob worked his ass off for over 6 months each year, getting everything in line so that to the casual observer, things would seem smooth and normal! Why then don't you join and put in your 2 cents?

| It's $25 to register a car for the show which lasts Fri, Sat, and Sun, but that $25 allows you to get up to 4 people who are in your car into the track for free. Compare this to $25 to get in for all 3 days per person, and it's actually cheaper. If you're worried your car might not make it into the show, send the people an email with a photo and talk with them. They're fairly reasonable it seems |

go to the daytona turkey run website and look for registration for spring turkey run. I would suggest you send them a picture of the car and pre register it if they approve (easier and 5 bucks less than at the door).
